“ So bored.” I groaned out loud sitting in my favorite chair outside Death City. I pick up my phone to check what time it was. Is it really only 5:00?
“ Well time to get ready for the partiers to appear.” I say stretching my arms as I get out of my chair heading to the door.
“ Well if it isn’t the rave god.” A familiar voice says behind me.
“ What do you want Tess?” I ask her turning around to look at her. Tess became my best friend right after I opened Death City. She has blonde hair with green eyes. She is always wearing dresses with sandals except in the winter. She wears a necklace that has a cross on it that she had gotten from her deceased grandmother. Tess is also the daughter of the famous Nilly Thomas.
“ Geez chill Sai, I just wanted to hang out with my bestie.” Tess says with a hurt look on her face. Sai is the name I give people to call me so I won’t have to tell them my real name.
“ Oh ok sorry for snapping at you I was just about to go open up the rave room if you wanna help get the set up ready. The ravers are going to be here at 7:00 so we have about an hour and fifty four minutes.” I say to her.
“ Sorry girl but I have a date with Mike in the next forty minutes.” She says.
“ Oh ok so what do you want to do till then?” I ask her.
“ Oh I don’t know. How about I help you find a girlfriend or boyfriend.” She says with a smirk which made me blush. Tess and her boyfriend Mike was the only ones who knew about my sexuallity and are always teasing me about it all the time.
“ I told you I don’t need to find a girlfriend or boyfriend. I’m just find by myself.” I tell her covering my blush with my hands.
“ Oh to bad because I got a friend coming over this weekend who is Bi and looking for a girlfriend or boyfriend and was hoping for her to come hang out with me and you.” She says with her hands behind here head.
“ Ok but you guys will have to come here because this weekend will be the Death party of a lifetime.” I tell her while unlocking the door to the building.
“ How is it the party of a lifetime?” She asks me with a confused look on her face.
“ A famous company is coming to town and someone just had to post a good review and the location of Death City on Facebook. In which I got a call from them and there coming here to hang out for the weekend.” I explained walking into the door.
“ I thought you don’t like it when people stay over after closing hours.” She says following me.
“ I don’t, so I told them and they said they would just stay at the hotel across the street.” I tell her so it would make more sense.
“ Alright, so you will still meet her?” She asks me.
“ As long as you watch her until I’m done with being interviewed and then we’ll get the party started.” I tell her walking to the lounge.
“ I can deal with that as long as you play my favorite song so Mike and I can have a good dance.” She says happily winking at me.
“ As long as you don’t get drunk and end up getting pregnant by him causing your parents to get pissed at me.” I joke making her blush in embarrassment causing me to laugh.
“ You know he’s not like that.” She says still blushing.
“ I know I was just joking but your reaction was just priceless.” I say opening the door to the lounge offering her a seat while I go get snacks from the vending machine .
“ Your a jerk.” She says coughing sitting cross legged pulling pillow onto her lap while I buy two snacks from the vending machine.
“ I know, but if I’m not the jerk of our friendship then who will be.” I reply grabbing the snacks from the slot tossing her one as I made my way to the seat in front of her. “ Because last time you tried to be a jerk you locked me in a room with a bunch of spiders- which you know I hate.”
“ Did you really need to remind me about that. You were so mad at me you didn’t talk to me for a whole week. Do you know how lonely it gets to not be able to joke around with you is?” She says sadly.
“ Alright I’m sorry Mom for not spending time with you.’ I reply chuckling.
“ Could you play some music please.” She says ignoring my joke.
“ What do you wanna listen to?” I ask her getting up from my spot to go look through my CD racks.
“ Ready As I’ll Ever Be off of Tangled.” She says shyly.
“ Wait you still listen to that.” I laugh while looking for songs in the special guest requests.
“ Hey don’t judge me that song was the first songs you and I sang together at DisneyLand.” She says hiding her face in one of the pillows on her lap. “ Plus you had all the disney characters there in tears. I can even remember the producer there tried to get you to play a concert there and I can’t believe actually you did.”
“ I still can’t believe he let me sing Syd matters: obstacles.” I say in a happy tone.
“ Speaking of singing would you sing me your lullaby?” She ask me. “ You don’t have to play Ready As I’ll Ever Be.”
“ Are you sure you have a date in at least twenty-two minutes.” I say. “ It might make you fall asleep and I’m scared to wake you up considering what happened last time.”
“ I’ll postpone it to tomorrow if I sleep that late.” She replies.
“Alrighty.” I say making her bounce up and down happily. Closing my eyes and taking a deep breath I start to sing my lost lullaby.
“Words are born into air
And quickly fade out in the wind
But they find their way inside you
Where they live on forevermore
When the skies are dark and full of rain
Look inside your heart
The light, so warm will come and glow
Shining just like the sun
You can see, just how much you've grown
How strong you are
A love will open up to you
And it starts from the day that you first heard those words”
When I opened my eyes I see Tess passed out on the couch in front of me. Sighing I got up and walked to the cabinet beside my closet graving a blanket out of it. I walk over to Tess and cover her up with the blanket.
“ Told you you’d fall asleep.” I say smiling. I go back to the door, I came in and dim the lights before I left.
“ I better start getting the rave room ready.” I say out loud walking over to the rave room. I opened the door to see a seven foot tall man in a black suit. He had eight tentacles coming out of his back. At that moment my instincts took over.
“ Can I help you mister.?” I ask him shaking. He turned to look at me and what I saw put the fear of god in me. The man had no face. All I can do is just stand there and stare.
“ Yes you can. Do you know if the DJ is here I need to speak with them.” He says. Alright he can talk. How can he talk. He doesn’t even have a mouth. I started freaking out in my head.
“ Yes sir. Your talking to her right now.” I reply coming out of my freaked out state.
“ Oh sorry for my rudeness. I’m Slender.” He replies offering a hand shake. “ And you are.”
“ I’m Sai.” I say taking his hand shaking it slightly.
“ I was wondering if I could talk to you about all the people that go missing here.” Slender says in a serious tone. The question caught me off guard.
“ Sure I guess.” I say. “ Do you wanna go somewhere private?”
“ Your lounge sounds good.” He says. I was about to say ok when I realized that Tess was still there.
“ Anywhere else because my friend is passed out there.” I explained to him.
“ Oh alright do you have anywhere we could talk?” He asks. I stand there for a moment trying to think of a place to talk.
“ I guess we could go to the studio.” I suggest. After he agreed I ask him to follow me. We made our way down the halls to the studio. When we get there I unlocked the door and hold it open for him walking in behind him.
“ Thank you for your time.” Slender says when I bring him a chair to sit in, which he gladly sat in.
“ No problem. So what do you wanna talk about.” I ask dragging a seat for me in front of him.
“ All those people who go missing here have never been found right?” He asks me.
“ Yes sir, that's what I was told.” I reply to his question.
“ Alright so here is what some of my friends heard in town. They said the DJ lives here. Is that true?” He asks me. What is he trying to get at? I ask myself.
“ Yes sir I do live here. Why do you ask?” I ask him.
“ Do you have a part in the people going missing?” He asks me.
“ I...um...I.” I started to stutter. Damn it I played right into that.
“ So you do have a part in it then.” He says amusingly.
“ So what are you going to tell the police about.” I ask him ready to run right the door if he tries anything.
“ No quite the opposite actually. I was wondering if you would come live with me and some friends.” He asks me.
“ Wait what? I’m a murderer aren’t you scared of me.” I ask with a confused look on my face. “ And pervert alert.”
“ Why would I be scared of you when I’m a murderer myself.” He replies laughing. “ And the pervert would be one of my brothers.”
“ Oh, ok may I think about before answering a question I might regret.” I say still calling him a pervert in my head.
“ Smart choice for a child your age. You’ll have till tomorrow morning.” He says getting out of his seat straightening his suit.
“ Can it wait till tomorrow night?” I ask him.
“ Why does it need to wait till tomorrow night?” Slender asks me.
“ Tomorrow is when a famous company is coming here to interview me about this place and if I don’t show up it will be the end of Death City.” I explain to him about tomorrow to the details about the interview to the date with Tess’s friend.
“ All right, I understand the situation.” Slender says rubbing his chin. “ I’ll come get you tomorrow night so watch out for me.”
“ Wait if you come over can’t someone see you.” I ask him. He let out a small laugh before going back to being serious.
“ I can only be seen by the people who I want to see me child, so there is nothing to worry about.” He says and I made an ‘oh’ sound.
“ So see you tomorrow Mr. Slender.” I tell him as he walks to the door to leave.
“ See you tomorrow miss Sai, oh and if there’s any trouble here’s my phone number.” He handed me a piece of paper. And with that he left.
