On the train it was pleasantly silent. The only thing that was bugging me was
the fact of Noah trying something once more. In high sight it must have been
me knowing the future. Letting out a yawn I close my eyes. The ride to
Rozen takes about two hours. We stopped at several small stations to let
people off and others on. Each time we stopped I made sure no one would sit
next to me. In all truth it was very tiring but better than the alternative. One
of the times I glanced up a kid smiled at me waving. He had to be no more
than six at the most. It was cute how he seemed so interested. Although his
parents didn’t seem to like the fact he wanted my attention, they moved
seats.
It was cute when he waved good-bye to me. His parents gave me a stern look
walking past the seat. Once they were gone I closed my eyes. The rest of the
trip went pretty smoothly. We arrived ahead of time which was nice but
something felt off to me. As we all un-boarded the train there were police off
near the end. They appeared to be searching for someone. If it was me then
thank god I’d put a hoodie on that covered my face. People slowly passed
along the police as they were inspecting them. One of the officers stopped
the lady behind me. When they saw her face they let out a sigh allowing her
to leave. Glancing back I see a paper in their hand with a description. Holy
shit they were looking for me. Noah you crazy bastard you weren’t going to
leave me alone. No way in hell was I going to stick around. Quickly I merged
into the people leaving the station. There was no time to waste since he
already had even this city looking for me.
As I walked down the street I glanced at the stores. There was a used store
that seemed to sell high price merchandise. If I could sell the dress with the
rose accessories I’d have money to leave again. Opening the door there was a
woman standing at the counter. She looked at me with a smile.
“How may I help you ma’am?”
She seemed polite which was a change of pace for me. Most people with this
appearance gave a cold shoulder. I opened my bag taking out the dress and
accessories handing them over.
“Considering how much this all cost I can give you four thousand for it
all.”
Damn that was more than I expected from a used store even if it is upper
class.
“Deal, thank you so much. I only wore them once to a party. As you can see
I’m not the fancy type of girl.”
She laughed and counted the money out for me.
“You don’t need to say that about yourself. You are a very pretty young
woman. I bet these looked lovely on you.”
Her comment made me blush slightly. For some reason I thought of Noah
and how he reacted that night. The woman takes my hand placing the money
into it.
“You make sure whatever is going on you are safe. I can tell when someone
is feeling off dear.”
Wow was she like some physic or something?
Smiling I nod to her not knowing what else to do. Walking from the store the
mid-summer air hit my face with warmth. It felt nice but I put the hood of
the sweater back up. If I took the train again Noah would most likely catch
me for sure. This really sucked first Devon and now Noah were both after
me. Was there some kind of kink in that stupid curse? Noah had arrived at
the train station. The police stood up straight as one walked over.
“Sir..we don’t know how but she managed to get past us all. Many men have
been giving her description on patrol. If they see anyone matching her we
will know at once.”
He glared at the men while running a hand through his hair.
“It seems Miss Zoe is much quicker then I thought.”
He laughs to himself turning back to his car. As he got into his car a smirk
came to his lips. Noah grabbed his cell phone dialing a friend.
“Hey, Jeremy you got some time to help me out?”
He placed the call to his car's device. On the other end his friend raised a
brow with interest.
Jeremy told him yes as they agreed on a place to meet up. All this time Zoe
was working on a new way to leave this city as well. Jeremy walked into a
coffee shop waving to Noah. He had long blond hair, fair skin, and bright blue
eyes. Jeremy was only five foot eight. Noah always made him feel small in
comparison. He sits down looking at Noah who was drinking his usual.
“So tell me what is the favor you need?”
Noah rubbed in between his eyes for a moment.
“Here is a picture of a girl named Zoe Lapis. I need her to be found. Zoe
seems to be very good at running away.”
Jeremy raised a brow seeing the amused expression on Noah’s face.
“Is she a target of the secret police or personal?”
Noah stood up leaning onto his friend's shoulder.
“She is very personal. Miss Zoe thinks she can escape me. I will not let her
get away so easily.”
Jeremy watches as he leaves with only those words.
He’d never seen his friend so interested in any woman. Getting up he looks to
the picture once more.
“Zoe Lapis you are truly something I will give you that.”
Jeremy laughs some walking from the cafe himself. Once he returns home
his massive computer system is put to work.
“Okay now Miss Lapis let’s see where the camera’s have spotted you.”
He begins typing really fast as screen after screen flashes on the computer.
After a moment he stops with a smile.
“Bingo little Miss.”
Picking up his cell he ponders for a moment if he should wait to call Noah.
Jeremy places the phone back down just watching Zoe on the screen.
“I think this will make it much more fun my friend. Let’s see how bad you
really want to catch her.”
In some way this was his revenge for all the times Noah teased him.
