Part 7 - The Goodbyes
- I’m sorry… - Jean could only whisper, so big was her shame.
- Don’t worry. – Igor made a true innocent smile, which didn’t make Jean feel any better. – She told me I was going to make mommy proud.
- Very proud… - Jean got the force she needed and looked Igor in the eyes. She smiled to hide the shame.
- I have to go. – Igor talked slowly. He wanted to make that moment last as long as possible and he was clearly sad for leaving his friends. – She’s calling me. Bye Jean…
- No! Wait! They also want to say goodbye! Wait!
- I have to go. She’s waiting for me…
Jean turned to her friends and yelled as loud as she could. When they heard her, the group came running as fast as they could, while Igor got away. They were only 6 meters away, so it was quick. As soon as Lara got by the frontier she tried to get to Igor to try to bring him back, but the air became solid, like a wall stopping Lara from going ahead.
Igor turned back, to the crying group and wave at them to say goodbye, act the group drearily mimicked. Igor turned again and kept going his way. Every step he gave made more greenish-blue grass grow. Grass that have been growing and expanding since the beginning. It grew even more with every step Igor gave.
Jean was crying wildly and, while John was trying to calm her down, slowly and filled with guilt, Teófilo caught all the flowers he could and stored them on his bag. When it was full, Teófilo touched Jean and Lara’s shoulders to tell them it was time to go. So they slowly returned home.
And Igor kept walking.
