Light shone across the town, illuminating the corpses spread about; streets were painted with the blood of citizens and attackers alike. The air was hot and thick with the feelings of guilt and regret dragging us down. The sun has started to rise with a sky as bloody as our people. Mournful wails of pain harmonized across the city, my heart was thumping along to the tune. The weight of Ingrid on my good shoulder was becoming too much to bear, I stumbled over a broken hand and fell like a sack of bricks. The collision between the ground and my bad shoulder sent a wave of pain all around me. The world became muffled as the weight of Ingrid on top of me crushed me slowly. A deep sigh came from deep in my lungs as the black spots started to take over my vision. Scraping came from behind me when the weight was lifted off.
"Come on, I can't carry all three of you." Hunter whispered as his boot poked me in the calf. I used my good arm and managed to push myself up. Hunter was covered in God knows what and rested Ingrid on his shoulder and a young girl in his arm, cradling her despite losing his prosthetic. I started at the sun trying to let it burn this image in front of me away. I closed my eyes and let the sounds of the dying city fill my ears and started walking again.
