While Uuzhit was showering, Asakay and Inyoninko wrestled around in the common area but hardly a few minutes later, there were knocks on the door, then Iejei's voice called through it, "Housekeeping." They froze and looked towards the door, finding barely visible silhouettes standing on the other side. "Come on, open up!"
"But I haven't dirtied my room yet!"
Inyoninko chuckled a bit.
"We can see you."
Whatever smile she had faded fast as she glared at the door. Everything was made of glass. No matter how thick or dark, they were still surrounded by walls, floors and ceilings of glass, and steel beams forming the building's skeleton. Silhouettes visible through doors, reflections on every wall, Inyoninko remembered last night, catching herself staring into the eyes of her reflection multiple times, as well as Asakay asking to stay with her in her room, cause the reflections freaked him out, though not as badly as at the governor's, she noted.
"Just open the door! Please!" There was a pause. "We have a surprise."
Inyoninko looked over to Asakay who now stood right beside the door, staring at its handle. He had his arms crossed, brows furrowed, frowning. "Why don't you just pick it," he called out.
Iejei giggled. The voices of two other women drifted through, attracting Inyoninko closer. There were three silhouettes on the other side, looking like a single blob. Asakay looked to Inyoninko. "You do it," he whispered.
Inyoninko inched closed. He stepped back as she opened the door. "Surprise!" She found a cake being offered to her. Iejei stood on the right with two women beside her, the one in the middle holding the cake. She fixated on the cake. "We baked it to apologize," Iejei cried. Asakay peeked over Inyoninko's shoulder. It looked like a real cake. He glared down at it.
"Who made it?"
"Hey."
Inyoninko snorted.
"When she says we," one of the other women said, "I actually." She looked to Iejei who beamed. Inyoninko glanced between the two and took that as confirmation. Looking over the two beside Iejei, she recognized them as the two that had flanked Eshuumina yesterday.
The young woman in the middle holding the cake was the one that had been holding the clutch matching Eshuumina's outfit. She had full cheeks and a cute nose. Her hair was dark red, similar to Inyoninko's but cut in a short bob. Her lips were stained dark gray and she had light smokey eyes, the color of her irises a warm brown. She wore large stone bracelets of varying thicknesses on her wrists, large thin hoop earrings of silver, and when Inyoninko glanced past the cake, she could see the exposed cleavage of an ample bosom, the young woman's figure carved out by a mid-waist black skirt and a gray-and-white striped blouse.
Feeling herself reacting to the sight, Inyoninko focused on the young woman to the left who held herself erect, standing with folded hands and an inclined head. Her features were longer and more angular with a sharp jaw and high cheekbones. She wore fitted jeans, a peach-colored blouse with ruffles, and strappy heels. Her dark hair was long with soft curls, hanging over one shoulder. Feeling herself reacting to this woman as well, Inyoninko turned away, pushed past Asakay and stormed back into the dorm.
Iejei called after her but she shut her door. She heard them chattering on the other side and ignored it. With a mutter under her breath, she looked about, then remembered her phone was in her back pocket. Though all of her stuff and Asakay's had been brought yesterday, she did not actually have that much. She went to her backpack on the desk chair but it was filled with books. She didn't even have a laptop, let alone some earbuds. Cursing under her breath, she left her room. Iejei called out to her but she ignored it, shutting herself in Asakay's room. She could hear him laughing in the common area.
Looking around, she rolled her eyes at the mess. His clothes were everywhere, piled on the bed and floor. His shoes, belts and accessories were scattered about, accompanied by a lot of souvenirs and trinkets they got on excursions with either the governor or governess. Navigating her way to his desk, she sifted through more stuff, locating his laptop, camera and a book, which she paused at, recognizing it from one of their excursions, where Asakay convinced the governess to let them look around in the bookstore. She rested her hand on the cover with a smile. But her contentment lasted only a moment as she was reminded of more physical needs down south. She spun about, surveying Asakay's mess and tried to think where he would discard some earbuds. Turning to his desk, she opened the top drawer, where she found earbuds. She took them and stuffed them in her back pocket.
