As I was lying in bed, I saw my parents standing beside me. My mother was crying as she was looking at me while my father was holding my mother's shoulder and consoling her.
That was the last thing I remembered before my death.
I opened my eyes. I was now surrounded in some sort of darkness. I could not see clearly and so I assumed this to be my final resting place. I tried to move my legs. Surprisingly, I was able to move. I walked and walked endlessly in a forward direction until, I saw a bright light ahead of me.
"Finally", I sighed.
Wait.
I could speak?!
I shrugged off this thought and walked thoughtlessly towards the never ending tunnel.
As I walked further towards the light I began seeing myself as a physical body of sorts. I tried to move my hands up to my feel my head. I couldn't feel the sensation of my face nor could I feel my hands but I knew they were present. Was I a ghost?
I proceeded walking towards the bright light. Now I looked at myself once again, only to find a bone like structure.
"What the... Why am I a skeleton?"
Had I become one of those mythical creatures we often heard of in horror stories? Was I even really dead? Questions popped in my mind to no end. Nonetheless, I continued this tiring journey. The bright light was enlarging. It must be a gate or a doorway to heaven, I thought. I advanced another step, and noticed another skeleton just like me.
"Rgrgh...", bellowed the skeleton.
I could tell he was in pain. Maybe he was just like me. Maybe he was stuck here after dying.
I spoke, "Are you alright?"
"Rgrgh...", replied the skeleton.
With no sense of communication between us, I decided to ignore him and advance forward.
As I advanced, the skeleton started to attack me.
"What's wrong with you?!", I yelled.
The skeleton continuously moved his hand in a vertical direction across my face as if he was trying to pat me on the head. I felt no pain from his hits. Angry with the skeletons behaviour, I punched him in the face with a heavy uppercut. The skeleton's head fell off of his body.
What had I done?! I had killed a dead man! I should be ashamed of myself. Would I go to hell for this? I mean, he was dead already so....
As I was contemplating about what I would do, the skeleton spoke again, "Rgrgh...rgh...rrrr..rr."
I shrieked in horror. Wait. What am I doing. I'm a skeleton for god sake.
I decided to put the skeleton out of his headless misery by finally killing him. As I crushed his head under my feet, I heard a inner voice,
<You have slain a skeleton soldier.>
<Leveling up...>
<You are now level 2.>
"Level 2? What is this, a video game?" Now I was truly confused.
Amidst all the confusion, I decided to give skeleton-san a proper burial. I dug a hole in the dark soil-like substance I was standing on and placed skeleton-san's dead body.
"I will always remember your sacrifice skeleton-san. Your mean yet considerate nature, the words that you spoke, and your loving affection will always remain embedded deep in my heart."
I covered the body with the soil and marched forward swelling with tears in my eyes. The heck? How am I crying. I don't have eyes.
As I looked up, I saw an enormous spider's saliva trickling down on my skull.
"Aw Sh*t..."
I ran at full speed towards the light. The spider tailed me down as it crawled parallel across the wall of the tunnel. I wasn't fast enough. I had to come up with a plan. Thinking while running, I realised that I could use skeleton-san's body to defend. I halted and ran in the direction I had come from. The spider crawled for a bit due to it's speed, and started chasing me once again.
"What the heck's happening out here.", I thought to myself. I died peacefully and turned into a skeleton. I was attacked by another skeleton who I killed and now, I'm being chased by a spider the size of a buffalo.
Back in the days, before I had cancer, I lived a happy and prosperous life. I had a strict father and a loving mother. All I wanted to do was spend each and every day of my life in peace. After I realised that I had cancer, all I wanted was a peaceful death. Then, I wound up here, where I am living like a skeleton. If by any chance this was God's way of fulfilling both my wishes at the same time, then let the lord know, I'm coming up there to drive a hole in his system. Damn it. What did I ever do to wind up here?
