Magic, I got a magic skill! It only cost 10 Mind to use. With my sudden increase in Mind, I could use it indefinitely. I wonder if that strange feeling I can feel is magic? Wow, so cool, I may be incredibly squishy in this form, but I can cast magic, and a lot of it. Granted it is only one fire spell, but still magic is magic is magic. I had to give this a go.
The thing they don’t tell you about using fire magic, in all the stories and games is that when you set something on fire with magic, it actually burns. Creatures that are being burned not only smell terrible but they scream, and the sounds would have been haunting with only my regular human hearing, with my keen canine hearing and smell… Let’s just say that nothing could stay down that night. I had come across one of the big cats, and man were they even bigger than ever in my now tiny form. This was also the strongest creature that I had come across.

I barely managed to dodge the first swipe of its claws. If it had hit, with his Str and my weak body and measly Def, I would have died, right then and there. I had tried to initiate my super cool new Firefox skill, but nothing happened. I had to dodge again, and this time I bit down on the leg that was near me. It did nothing to the Cat, not one single point of damage. My bite had been downgraded big time and my Str. was only four where his Def is 25. It is like throwing a pebble against a stone wall. I barely managed to keep my teeth from getting stuck in the Wooly Claw’s thick fur. Once I was under the cat and had a moment of safety I tried to cast my spell again, again nothing happened. I feel as if I am missing something. After another round of dodge the deadly deathclaws, I remembered that in the description of the Kitsune it said that they use the magic in the atmosphere and focus it in their tails to cast Firefox. Once I got away from the cat’s claws I felt for that strange sensation in the air around me. Mentally grabbing onto it I imagined myself pulling it into my tails and felt a heat building up around my body. I focused hard on Firefox and pushed everything I had at the Wooly Claw that was lunging for me faster than I would be able to dodge. It is now or never. Five spheres of blue and white fire slammed into the chest and head of the Wooly Claw and it’s thick fur ignited. It had let out a feral scream of pain and was rolling over and over in the dirt trying to put out the flames. I stood there frozen in horror as the smell of burning hair and flesh filled the air around me. Firefox’s flames do damage based on how high my Int stat is, and my Int is very high. It took three minutes for the Wooly Claw to finally stop moving and the flames began to die down. The entire time I stood there shaking. That had been terrible. A small ding sounded in my head Reached Level 11 gained 10 skill points, Conditions met gained Title: Usurper (Wooly Claw). I shakily sat down...and don’t remember much from the rest of the night.
Having decided to not use Firefox against another Wooly Claw unless I have to, I discovered that my progress through the forest is going to be much slower. My bundle, which was a good size for my German Shepherd form, is much bigger and harder to move in my Kitsune form. For starters I am not tall enough for it not to drag a little on the ground when I carry it. I thought about changing over to my German shepherd form to carry things, but decided that I want to see what I get when I level my Kitsune form to level two. I had gotten such a cool, if currently useless, skill for getting level two with my German shepherd form that I just need to know. After some trial and error I learned how to do that will-o-wisp thing with my tails that the description had mentioned. Instead of setting the Wooly Claws that come after me, which there have only been two since then, on fire I use the wisp tail to make them jump into the river or off a cliff. I got really lucky with that cliff and those rapids. I still get the experience. I am glad that I already have the furs that I do have, because there was no salvaging anything from the last three cats. I used my Firefox flames on the Rhabbits they did not catch fire like the Wooly Claw did. I only used one flame though. It did leave a large scorch mark and smell of burned hair and flesh is still there, but it is much more bearable than that first time. I think that the combination of all five flames, my desperation and force and the sheer amount of hair and fur the Wooly Claw had is what led to such a drastic result. As hard as it is to move at a good pace, I am starting to like this Kitsune form.
