Iola’s blushed furiously and averted her eyes quickly from the other woman’s exposed upper body.
She heard Dacia giggle and felt the mercenary’s strong callused fingers gently caress her own bare breast.
The sensation of that touch sent a cascade of shivers through Iola’s young body, and a myriad of colours flooded her mind.
“We are made for one another...” Dacia cooed. “I felt it the first time I saw you, back in that rat-infested tavern... I just knew I had to have you, Iola.”
“I don’t understand.”
“What’s not to understand?” The mercenary scratched her head with an eyebrow raised. “I saw you enter the seedy tavern, looking very alluring and so out of place.
“At that moment I knew there was something special about you... something that attracted me like a moth to flame.
“I let that old fool Grommet waste some of your time, but when that foppish Klaus cut in, I knew I had to act fast. I wasn’t going to let you slip away from me.”
“So... so then you intended just to be with me all along.” Iola looked deep into Dacia’s gray eyes. “The six gold coins for the mission was just a ruse... to get close to me.”
“Well, I did want to help you on your mission.” Dacia sat up and scratched her exposed navel. “I just didn’t want to scare you off by offering my mercenary services for free.”
“I wouldn’t have doubted you, if you had done so.” Iola smiled at the look of indignation on her companion’s good-looking face.
“Ha, I don’t buy that.” Dacia laughed aloud, her expression transforming from umbrage to merriment. “Not the way you were cringing at pretty boy Klaus’ discounted offer.”
“Oh, him.” Iola laughed back, feeling some of her own anxiety ebb. “I’ve all but forgotten my little misadventure looking for sellswords...”
