“Damn straight we do.” Dacia’s strong fingers grasped hard at the young man’s dense shoulder. “What the fuck is going on? What do you want, you... you...”

“My name is Nesmir Henan Kahn.”

“I don’t give a fu...”

“Dacia, please.” Iola cried out. “This is something beyond our control...”

“What is going on with this guy? That’s all I want to know, Iola.”

“Yes, I think I can understand now.” Iola sighed and leaned back onto the bar counter. “When I entered his mind, I think I created some sort of temporary link between our minds.”

“You mean you and this guard are now mind linked by your clan magic.” Dacia threw her hands up and laughed.

“Yes, Iola is correct, my tall friend.”

“You keep your mouth shut, boy.” The mercenary rounded on the smiling Nesmir. “And we are not friends.”

“We could be... after we have a talk.”

“Yes, Nesmir.” Iola looked into the handsome young man’s brown eyes. “You did say we have to talk.”

“Yes, we do.” Nesmir gestured at an empty table by a corner of the inn. “If you would join me for a drink.”
