This man goes by the common name as the Devil some people also know him as Mason. Not many know of him but those who do are usually terrified just by the sight of him. He steps up to the microphone with glee, “Hello humanity. This is the Devil Mason speaking and I am here to deliver you all some shocking news. You are all the first people to get the news so you better spread it fast. This is the end. This is not like 2012 when you had a calendar stop counting days, but the literal end. And sadly nobody can sto…” His eyes land on me.
His face goes pale as his malicious smile slowly fades and a look of realization appears. I knew this was gonna happen but I wasn't expecting it for another five hundred years or so. I stand up slowly. “This world is protected.” I boldly say not even caring about all the faces suddenly turned to look at me. The Devil visibly tries to regain his composure but fails to completely hide his fright. “I thought you were dead, I thought the Earth was alone." I scoff at him, “You thought that I was dead? I’m insulted, a few factories here and there won't kill me.”
He still looks a little scared and confused, “You said that Armageddon will happen and you won’t stop it when the planets align. Did you forget or something? It wasn't really that long ago, only 1000 years has passed.” My grin disappears, “I believe you’re a little confused, the planets are aligned but not perfectly. Did you really think my memory was that bad? And now you have exposed yourself to roughly 100 humans.”
Beside me Vanessa shifts in her seat, I had forgotten she was there. Vanessa looks up to me and any trace of her beautiful smile has disappeared. Vanessa whispers softly enough for only me to hear, “Sophie what’s going on? Who is this crazy man?” I sadly chuckle a little, thinking about all the fun things I'm going to miss about her after tonight. “That's the thing about Humanity. Always curious. Always one of a kind. That’s the way that you were all created. It's amazing. I love all of it.” I couldn’t help but show my amazement. I secretly wink at her and then pull the rest of my attention to Mason, I completely and utterly shut out the rest of the world around us. “Now, what to do with you? I could just send you back to Hell and wait another five hundred years...Or I could take care of you now and create a new Devil that actually listens and respects Authority.” I wanted to sound threatening, I knew though that even if I didn't sound like it, he knew I was only joking.
He shakes his head catching on that I was joking, “Please, Hell is peaceful under my control, you won't kill me for my first mistake.”
I step towards him with that same twisted smile he wore when he arrived, “How about we have the Angel come down, he can decide your fate.” Mason sighed, “I suppose he will have to come anyway due to all these people. He won't be happy about coming to Earth though, he hates Humanity with a passion. I think it has only gotten worse since you disappeared. We all thought you were dead.” I start to walk back to my seat, I then look over my shoulder just to see a look of realization spread over his face. I say to him “I disappeared for a reason. I didn’t really want to be found either, but I guess you trampled that little idea.”
