This story takes place on the continent of Xen'drik in the year 989 YK and starting in the month Olarune. Xen'drik is south of the continent of Khorvaire according to the world map. Vladh is a vampire, a mere vampire; he has sharp eyes and long eyelashes; long hair that reminds someone of red and usually wears dark clothes that resemble a Gothic being, a thin hat that looks like an Elven singer from Valenar. Vladh keeps the surname "Falone" with you, the Falones are a family of royalty in a small country that is not on the map, this country is called "Region of Mhora".
Vladh is in a room in a very closed cabin, he has the company of one of his half brothers, Prince Salazar Falone. Vladh is a hidden son of the Falones, as he is clearly a bastard son because he is not a dwarf and was also born as a vampire, but without the characteristics of a vampire. He was even hidden from other family members with the excuse that he was killed by a hungry vampire at birth. Salazar puts on a long sword with a crushed scabbard of silver details and on the blade with dwarf engravings. Salazar moves away and kneels, he puts in two clay cups which he brought in a small bag and soon filled with water. Vladh stares with a sharp look at Salazar who drank from the water, Salazar offers but without even blinking the glass appeared in Vladh's hands. Salazar is bothered by a fly and he tries to shoot it down, he is beating everywhere with both hands echoing the sounds of tapas.
- Have you thought about putting vinegar in the corner of this hut to kill these flies? asked Salazar, giving up on killing the flies.
- It is easier to hunt flies with honey than with vinegar. - Vladh said coldly and directly.
- This is something frivolous. - said Salazar laughing - But my brother ...
- I'm not your brother! exclaimed Vladh.
Salazar is silent watching the frightened expression becoming futile, Salazar keeps the clay cups and takes a deck of cards out of his bag.
- Necromancer? asked Vladh.
- Just to test your luck and skill.
- I don't play this type of "bad luck" in the form of cards.
- Bad luck doesn't exist; because God doesn't play dice.
I could see on Vladh's face an expression that was astonishing as Salazar was when he said that, Vladh and Salazar play a little and then they realize that the sun has already broken. Salazar says goodbye and Vladh returns to a thin blanket that "seals" the sun.
Vladh watched the sunset and noticed the moon's vineyard, so he wasted no time and left right in the middle of the setting sun, the sky was orange but the sunlight did not damage his skin. A curiosity, Vladh has certain characteristics unlike that of an ordinary vampire; he is only harmed by sunlight only when the sun is well exposed, and he does not need blood to feed himself because for some reason he is disgusted with blood, even in his veins.
Vladh ran to the coast of Xen'drik, there he saw Salazar leave in a sophisticated flying boat, and in that same boat he would come in two months. Salazar has a timetable and only every two months he spends the day with Vladh. - Now what does Vladh do on the continent of Xen'drik? - this is what you may be looking for, but I will answer in detail if possible: Vladh usually spends his time reading books that he finds around Xen'drik's most hospitable country, the great Stormreach. Vladh also tends to stack as many books as possible; and also reviews books and also ... well, everything is based on books.
Books are the only accessible thing that Vladh oddly found, it made him understand about the world beyond Xen'drik and things within Xen'drik. But, when two years passed, he realized that his appearance was unscathed and his secluded life would not take him in what he himself calls "happy to see and lose".
Vladh took the long sword that Salazar had left two years ago and he realized that there was an old paper there, it had a dragon mark from the Kundarak house and then Salazar's words on the paper: "Vladh, I will be before at your disposal in case you want to leave this continent and live in the kingdom of Bhordur in Mhora. I want you to have what our family lives, eats, sleeps and nourishes to govern and fight. "
Vladh was perplexed, but looking at the small hut he had lived in ever since, he accepted Salazar's proposal. A sound of footsteps is heard and then, without ever having picked up a sword, he quickly raises it in the throat of the coming fellow; it was Salazar with his son Stor and his daughter Marta.
- So it looks like my two-year proposal is still up. - Said Salazar leaving the sight of the sword that Vladh raises.
Salazar puts his hand on Vladh's shoulder and smiles and looks proud.
- Ready to be called Falone?
