Tie Him To Me (Book 1 of THTM The Series)

Perfect

Perfect

Mar 12, 2020

Heart stepped back into the company the biggest smile plastered on his face.

He had no idea how he had gotten the job, nearly two weeks ago when he had run out of here in a burning plethora of angst and unidentifiable feelings he was fairly certain he wasn’t going to. Now the little temporary visitor’s badge, was burning a hole against his chest. A proud hole. He felt it. That feeling that whatever had gone wrong a month ago, had lifted, and he was himself again, clean shirt and new dress pants and all. Hella expensive pants that cast the last of this month’s extra money to buy.

But it was worth it to be under that banner of prestige that having a badge from here meant.

Perfect, precise, like himself again. He wiped his nervous palms onto his pants then stopped himself and dusted it away like he could undo what he had done.

They were discounted pants but still new he needed to treat them better.

I need to act like the best.

A paid internship here at the biggest architecture company in all of Bangkok, he needed to act the part.

A soft sound of someone clearing their throat spilled through his haze and he refocused on his surroundings.

A tall man, who didn’t look too much older than Heart was looking at him. He was well put together, his expensive designer gray suit with light pink undershirt was crisp and perfect. Giving off the same air as that guy in the bathroom had. Actually he looked a bit like him too. His dark charcoal black hair was swept back and a pair of gold rimmed circular glasses tucked close to the top of his nose. He stepped forward and offered a hand towards the elevators with a polite bow.

“Welcome, my name is Kit. I hope you don’t mind that we asked you to skip the initial tour with the other new hires. The boss has a fairly tight schedule but has got a little time to meet you presently. I promise, he has assured me, that you can do all the regular orientation stuff later on at your own leisure. Please, do not feel any pressure or anxiety over missing out on learning your way around things in the building, you will do that later. It’s just he is rather sensitive and busy, so you should meet him first before all that.” Kit stopped in the elevator, looked at him pushed his glasses up even though they hadn’t fallen and cleared his throat. “Get to know his particular… Habits out of the way. then we can circle back.”

Habits? What kinda habits does the guy have?!

Heart nodded his head slowly doing his best not to let the extensive dread that had plopped into his stomach when Kit said that. The elevator doors opened up and Kit stepped out, to the side and half bowed while gesturing forward for him. He stepped out and followed Kit past security, who scanned his card and smiled.

“From now on when you see him you won’t have to scan him in anymore, Cei Yu.”

The guard nodded.

“Another one for this floor huh.” He gave him an over enthusiastic smile and bow then looked him once over. “Secretary, like you.” He asked. His dark eyes filled with amusement.

Kit cleared his throat and looked away towards the office that had all it’s blinds down over the large glass windows and door.

“Something like that. This way Heart.”

He smiled back at Cei Yu over-enthusiastically; the guard chuckled again.

Heart followed Kit across the room, trying hard not to stare at how elegant, poised, mature, and handsome Kit looked. He was very beautiful and if he had met him before the man in the bathroom he was sure his heart would have skipped a beat but Saint. He had been circling his brain like a drain. he shook his head. Do not think about him again, isn’t it bad enough he is appearing in your dreams. You won’t have to see him again. Though he does look a bit like him doesn’t he. No one looks like him… So handsome. Stop!

He weaved behind Kit through the rows of nineteen desks to a set of two that were set slightly ahead and apart, one of them clear, and the other one hundred percent immaculately organized but with small stacks of paperwork, and one file in the middle of the desk, it had his name tagged to it. While he was musing on how much more mature this Kit looked than him, even though they couldn’t be that far apart in age. What Kit had previously said before when they entered the elevator finally dawned on him and he turned to look at Kit, his interest peaked.

“The boss? Why would I be meeting the boss? Do all interns in your company meet the boss on their first day?”

Kit chuckled, a soft sweet sound that made Heart feel embarrassed but pleased.

“No.”

Heart blinked when he didn’t elaborate.

Heart gulped. He stopped at that very organized desk grabbed the file with Heart’s name on it then gestured towards the large glass office with the blinds down that Heart had clocked when he first came through the doors to this level.

Sure enough, Kit led him up the stairs and opened the door. It was large, open, and just as immaculate as every other part of the modern building. There was a couch off to one side near the door and a large desk further back, right near the outside windows. The desk was clean except for a single pen and a small folder of papers. Kit added his to the desk, then stepped back and looked at Heart.

He paused.

“What?” Heart asked after an awkward moment.

“Oh, yes, sorry. I am so used to people just telling me immediately what they would like me to go get them” He chuckled as if he found it amusing.

Ah, yeah I understand that feeling.

“What would you like to drink or eat?” Kit said with an extremely charming smile.

“Just some water is fine. I don’t need anything else. Thank you for the offer.”

Kit smiled back, nodded, and left quietly.

Heart scanned the room, his gaze darting from the sleek desk to the plush couch, his curiosity flickering like a restless flame.

What exactly is this job that I will be doing that I am sitting in the Executive’s office? a muted hum of anxiety built up inside and he suddenly wished he had asked a lot more questions to Kit.
