I turn to Gabe who looks as though he will be leaving, “Gabe, would you possibly address the crowd to make this easier on them? Most of these people will be returning with you anyway.” He gave a heavy sigh but slowly turned his attention back to humanity.
He is clearly upset that he has to help fix this situation. But I can’t do everything on my own.
“Good evening ladies and gentlemen. I am Gabriel, and I will be leading most of you to my domain, Heaven. The King of Hell, Mason will be taking the rest of you to his domain, and then a select few of you will be with Sophie in her domain. This situation might be a little confusing and absurd to a few of you but I can assure you, this will all work out in everyone's favour. Sophie, collect the humans you want, and then Mason and I can finish the rest of it.”
As Gabe finishes his speech, he turns away to go see how Mason is doing. I look out and see some very confused faces, Gabe didn’t do a very good job explaining the situation. I step down from the stage and start toward Vanessa and her father. Smiling while point to the door, “Hey, we might want to get out of here now.”
She shakes her head slowly clearly still in shock, “No, not until you tell me what the hell is going on.” I sigh: why cant they just follow simple directions? It’s obviously not the time to discuss this. While grabbing her and Mr. Skipps arm I pull them to the door. “I will explain everything to you after we leave this place, just know that you have a guardian angel looking over you.”
She doesn’t believe me, “Sophie, what the hell is going on?” Sighing, I let go of her arm, do I tell her the whole truth or just enough to destroy the look of fear in her eyes?
“To tell you the truth Vanessa would lead you to more questions that I can not answer, but just know that you can trust me.” Her eyes squint slightly, but willingly gets up to leave.
I'm relieved, it would be sad to see her die. As passing through the door, a small group of demons appear in front of us. I instinctively put myself between my friends and the demons.
With strength in my voice, or at least I hope it was strength, “Let us pass peacefully.” Their leader walks to the front of the little group. He looks familiar, “You have grown weak, do you really think you can take on hell?” I laugh darkly, my mind spinning, do they really think I am that weak?
I look at the leader, “Why do you think I am weak? Because my domain is filled with Humanity?” The cocky leader shakes his head so slightly, “ Your domain is dying, which would make you weaker as well. It's not an insult to you but a fact that I speak true.”
My smile is gone now, it’s true that the Earth is dying, but did that really make me weaker? I guess I was about to find out. “ If you touch these two, it will be seen as an act of war.”
Please just let us pass, I don’t want to start a war.
He takes out his sword, “It won't be war if I kill you.” And then he lunged at me. I easily avoided his sword but with no weapon of my own, I will have to improvise.
I hate improvising.
About a minute into my dodging his sword, I saw an opening. I grabbed his wrist causing him to drop his sword into my awaiting hand. I quickly brought it down on him. His head caused a loud thump when it hit the ground a second before his body did.
I hate violence. But sometimes it’s necessary. Like with Demons.
I turned toward the three remaining demons and laughed, “ I thought you said I was weak. Who’s next?” Before giving them a chance to respond, I swing my new sword down and behead all but one. I look to the whimpering demon, “ Tell the Devil that this is war. He will have to ask Gabe what that means since last time a war between our domains broke out, Hell lost. Expect the same results regardless of how weak you think I am.”
I give him my darkest smile and then turn back around to see that Vanessa and her father had run off.
I sigh heavily, why did they have to run off? I'm trying to protect them but of course like all of Humanity, they are scared of the unknown and I am in fact: the Unknown.
