"Hff....Will I really make it to skeleton-san's body in time?"

I had a great head start, yet the spider was able to cover the distance. Running through the darkness, I found a bump on the ground up ahead. Maybe this was where I kept skeleton-san's body.

I dug up the body as fast as I could and lifted a piece of skeleton-san's body that I found, as high as possible to defend against the spider.

The spider jumped right on top of me. I shrieked as the spider opened it's mouth. I closed my eyes as the spider pounced on to me. I was nearly crushed with the spider's mass. The spider stopped moving. Was it dead?

I opened my eyes and squirmed below the spider's body. My legs were still below the spider and I could squirm no further. It was then I heard an inner voice for the second time,

Ah. It died after all.

I wonder how much I had leveled up this time.

Just one level?

Oh so it's two levels. I see. Still, I thin-

Woah. That's ni-

The heck! This is breaking my flow every time I sp-

Oh God, just make it-

Just shut-

I give up... T T

Ranks? Species? Really, what's going on here? This is a lot like those games I used to play. But is this even real? Am I in a game or am I in a different world? Where am I?

<[Overthinking] level 1.>

I swear if this warped robotic voice makes another joke out of me... I'll-

<[Anger] level 1.>

<[Anger] level 2.>

Ok. Ok. Just stop....

I calmed myself down and squirmed once again to free my lower half from the spider's heavy body. Surprisingly, I could easily free myself from the heavy weight of the spider.

"So this is what happens when you rank up huh."

I stood on my feet once again. I looked at the spider's body to assess the incident.

Wait a minute...

I could see clearly. Even in this pitch black environment.

"Nice. This seems quite efficient."

I scanned the spider and found out that a bony structure had pierced through the head of the spider.

"I see. So the part of skeleton-san's body I had held above my head had pierced the spider before it tried to crush me. I guess using this bony structure would be useful for facing other creatures."

I pulled out the bony structure as blood started oozing out of the spider's head. When I took a closer look, the bony structure was shaped like a sword. This couldn't possibly be a part of a skeleton... Maybe it was a drop item?

I looked through the skeleton-san's grave and found nothing.

"So, if it really is a drop item, shouldn't the spider drop something too?"

<[Overthinking] level 2.>

Urghh....how do I deal with this guy?!

Anyways, moving on, it could still be possible that the spider would drop an item as well. I guess I'll wait for a while...

After 5 minutes, the spider's body vanished. I looked on the ground and found another sword. This one was different from the irregular, bony shaped sword I had. This one had a smaller grip and was more similar to a rapier than a sword. The edges were laced with some fluid and the sword was slightly smaller in size as compared to the bony sword.

I guess calling the swords by their characteristics would be too tiring... I guess I'll name them.

I'll name the bony sword skeleton-san's arm. No. Wait. It has to sound cool. Hmmm... How about Skele? I guess Skele seems fine.

As for the other sword, I guess I'll call it Spider for now...

I resumed walking towards the light. To my surprise, I was able to walk much faster. My legs felt lighter. My body movement was better. Compared to this the way I was moving before was like slogging. I felt great!

I walked straight for hours until I finally reached the light. Turns out, it was a door to reach outside the dark tunnel. I saw trees 20 feet tall, covering the entire area which was green and luscious. The whole area looked similar to a forest back on Earth.

"Huff...", I sighed, as I looked across the pleasant forest. Approximately 30 feet away I saw humans.

Yes! Finally! Humans!

Oh God no! I'm a skeleton!

My joy transitioned into to fear in a split second as I had been approached by 3 humans.
