A month passed and I was slowly growing used to being here. Louis was getting even better at cooking, and we had learnt that Anthony was really good at singing.
The seven of us boys had split up into groups within the group. I mostly hung out with Wilden, Daniel, and Anthony. Charles, josh and Louis had become inseparable.
Wilden and I were rediscovering marvel movies in the rec room while the others were all off in their rooms doing god knows what.
“This is my favourite one yet.” Wilden pointed to ironman which was playing on the tv.
“Seriously Wild! Spider-man: Homecoming is by far the best.” I challenged.
“Did you just call me Wild?” he smiled at me.
“Yeah, it’s easier then saying Wilden.”
“It’s only one syllable less.” He laughed. “Fine, you can only call me Wild if I get to come up for a nickname for you.”
I thought for a second. He wouldn’t think of anything too bad, I hoped. “Fine.”
He smiled Wickedly. “Laz.”
“Laz? That makes me sound like a snake.” My face scrunched up involuntarily.
“You agreed to it. That’s why you never agree to anything unless you hear what your actually agreeing to first.” He smiled, a facial expression I had grown to love on him.
“What are you guys doing in here?” Louis asked as he came in with two plates of carbonara for us. He had been trying out recipes from a cook book he found a week ago and so far everything had been great.
“Watching ironman. The best movie ever!” Wild exclaimed.
“Not true. It’s spider-man.” I defended.
“I agree with Wilden. Ironman is definitely better.” Louis said as he placed our meals on the coffee table in front of us.
“Thanks.” Wild and I both said keenly.
“Enjoy the best movie ever.” Louis said as he walked out of the room.
“Whatever.” I rolled my eyes and dug into the carbonara.
Anthony came barrelling around the corner and dived onto the couch. “Guess what guys!”
“What?” Wild asked.
“I have a girlfriend!” He bounced up and down where he sat. I had sort of been expecting this to happen for some time now. The girls in our cohort all seemed to compete for his attention. “It’s Circa! She accepted my invitation to eat dinner together tonight!” his grin couldn’t have gotten any bigger.
“That doesn’t make her your girlfriend. That’s just a date.” I corrected him.
“And date’s usually lead to becoming boyfriend and girlfriend. I hope I don’t screw this up, I don’t think I have any dating experience.” He said.
“Which is good because she doesn’t have any experience in that area either, nobody does. Just be yourself and make her feel special.” Wild said.
“Do you have dating experience? Because that was good advice.” Anthony said. “I have an idea!” He jumped over the couch and ran down the hallway. He had liked Circa for a while, I thought he would have been more excited, but this was still a huge change from his usual behaviour.
“Are you dating anyone?” Wild asked me as he ate.
“No. Nobody wants to come near me, let alone date me… I don’t like anyone anyway.” I told him. I hadn’t actually thought about dating anyone, it felt weird to think about that considering we were basically in jail. “What about you?”
“Yeah, I’m dating Cerise. She’s alright I guess but I’m not head over heels for her.” He replied. I pulled my legs up onto the couch and hugged my knees to my chest. I felt a tiny bit of anger bubbling in my stomach, though I don’t know why. “She gets angry at me for no reason sometimes. I guess that’s a werewolf thing.” He looked down at my necklace which was dangling over my knees.
“What does An mean?” he asked. I realised my necklace was around the wrong way and fixed it. “Zoe’s says that too. I didn’t know you had two races.”
“You do too. I saw your necklace the other day. Your like Daniel.” I saw his eyes widen in my peripheral vision. “Don’t worry though, I won’t tell anyone.” I promised him.
Wild didn’t take his eyes off of the plate on his lap. “Thanks. I won’t tell anyone about you either. Does An mean angel? That’s the only think I can think of that starts with An.”
It was my turn to look down at my plate. How had he guessed so easily?
“Why didn’t you tell people about it?” he began eating again.
“Because nobody cares about that part of me. They’re all to bothered about the demon part to care about me being half angel.” I played with my food rather than eating it.. “And demons aren’t meant to interact with angels so people generally don’t believe me anyway and look at me worse than they did when they thought I was just a demon. Why don’t you tell people about your alien side?”
“The hatred. I don’t remember it but I have it in grained in my mind that aliens are bad.”
A year and a few months later, I was a year older and still at this stupid school. 17 and trapped in the dorm most of the day, but hopefully not for long. Tomorrow was graduation, they had promised to let us go the day after. Hopefully Ms Lika stayed true to her word.
Six of us boys sat around the dining table eating dinner together for one of the last times.
“Why didn’t you guys fail school like I told you to?” a now 15 year old Louis whined. “It’s bad enough that Josh left last year. Now there’s only going to be three of us.”
“I don’t want to stay here any longer then I have to. You’ll get out eventually.” Daniel patted Louis on the shoulder.
I would really miss louis and Anthony, not so much Charles. He had started hating me because the girl he liked liked me more than him, to be fair though, the girl was 18 and he was 16.
“You’ll have less people to cook for.” Wild tried to cheer him up, it didn’t work.
“I like cooking for everybody.” He remained quiet for the rest of dinner. I could see the anguish in his eyes.
After dinner I went to my room. The walls were bare, the bed had nothing on it, the wardrobe was empty. I had come back from class today to find all my stuff missing, not packed away, just missing. It had happened to Daniel and Wild as well.
