An outburst from the Teacher in the front of the classroom was heard throughout the room. Several of the classmates turned their attention and focused on the person standing in the door way. A young man that was sitting in the room allowed his gaze to follow to the entrance. When his eyes focused on the boy, he moved his eyes back over to the textbook that laid on his desk. He knew right away who it was. This was not the first time the guy was late, nor did he think it would be last. He didn’t want anything to do with the other teenager. Seth was nothing like the teenager that was just making his way into the room. Seth took another glance at the boy. Leon was the name of the young man that just walked into the class late. He was someone that Seth had no interest in. Leon wore his short blonde hair spiked up and showed off his ear piercings that he wore on both of his ears. On his left ear, there was a stud piercing on the upper top. The young man made his way into the room ignoring the teacher that was speaking to him.
"How many times are you going to be late Leon? This happens every day! You need to come to class."
“Yeah yeah!” Leon spoke lazily to the teacher as he waived his hand up in the air not caring at all. He moved over to the other side of the room where his assigned seat was. It was a great place for him since it was right next to the window. He pulled out the chair and plopped down. He leaned forward with his chin resting on his open palm as his elbow rested bent on the table. His didn't care what was being sprouted from the teacher’s mouth. He didn't want to be there. So he focused his attention outside the window watching the scenery. The teacher soon gave up. He could talk to the boy until he was blue, and knew that it wouldn't make a difference. The older man signed. He turned back over to the board in the front of his class and continued where he left off in class. Seth's eyes wondered over to the other teenage that was sitting behind him to the left. He could clearly see that the boy was not wearing his uniform properly. He was wearing a black shirt with a skull on it. There were words on it that he couldn't make out due to the school uniform jacket covering them. There were bracelets that outlined the edge of the jacket. The pants he wore were black and baggy. Seth was wondering how they stayed up or how the teenager wouldn't trip over them. A shine could be seen hanging from the side of his pants. Seth knew that having a chain hanging from your pants was a part of the punk fashion. That's right. Leon was a punk, a delinquent. Someone that he wanted nothing to do with. Glancing further down, he saw Leon's ragged shoes that were starting to show their age.
At least get new shoes if you can buy all those gaudy stuff. Seth thought to himself. Of course he would never stay those words to the other boy. He has never talked to him before, and highly doubted that he would anytime in the future. They were completely different people and Seth knew that. Seth's eyes moved their way back up to Leon's face and saw the smirk on the other boys’ face. Seth quickly moved his head to face the front and tried to ignore the stare that he was now getting from the other boy.
Time had passed and it seemed as it was dragging along. Normally Seth didn't pay attention to such small things, but this time he couldn't help it. Mother nature was calling, and had been for a while. He would normally just ignore it till after class was over, but this was something that he couldn't stop ignoring. It was actually starting to hurt his lower abdomen the longer he tried to hold it in. He finally gave in and raised his hand requesting to leave the room. The teacher did not question the reason the teen was wanting to leave, and granted the request. Seth stood up from his seat and made his way out of the room.
After relieving himself in the bathroom, Seth walked over to the sink and started to wash his hands. He looked up at the mirror in front of his. He looked at his reflection. He wore glasses that were hiding his brown eyes behind them. He had short brown hair that was straight and stopped below his ears. He never had any issue with his hair getting curly at all. He thought it would look good with a little bit of volume, but he liked it how it was. He was nowhere near as flashy as Leon was, but he had some other types of qualities to himself. Even if he didn't have the looks, he did have the smarts. For a seventeen -year-old, Seth was one of the smartest kids at this all boy’s private school. Seth stood back a little. He gazed at his tan blaze jacket that showed the Logo of their school. He wore a white button up shirt with a tan tie that was all neatly tucked under the buttons of the jacket. Seth looked down at his tan pants and shiny black shoes. He was the perfect student in every way. What he never understood was the fact that Leon could get away dressing as he did. It is nowhere near their dress code. Well, it wasn’t something that he needed to worry about anyway. Leon was not his problem. Seth took one last glance in the mirror and left the bathroom.
Seth was making his way back to class when he heard his name being called out. He turned around to see a short stubby man in front of him. It was his homeroom teacher. The man was wearing a suit that was neatly ironed. The man had said his goodbyes to his hair that should've been on top of his head due to being bold. He did though have some hair that was on the sides going around his head.
"Mr. Donalds." Seth began to speak out to the teacher. "Is there something that you wanted from me?" The older man nodded.
"I want you to follow me into the teachers’ lounge. I have some things that I want to speak to you about." Seth nodded. The older man turned on his heels and began walking with a small teenager following him.
The two walked into the room. Seth was not a stranger to the room at all. He had been in there to speak with the teachers on several occasions. Also the desk looked the exact same as they did every time he came in. There were papers scattered all over the desk. He was unsure how anyone was able to get anything done, let alone find certain papers. Teachers have it pretty difficult. Seth thought to himself. The older man found his spot and sat down. His desk was no different than the others. The man took in a few breaths before he pointed at the chair that was free next to him.
"Please sit." Seth complied. He sat down in the chair and straightened his posture right away. He waited for the fat man to start talking again. “I know that you are one of the best students that we have at this school. Because I trust you, I want you to do something for me.” Seth just nodded. The man took in a deep breath before letting it out. “You know the boy Leon Bell?” Seth nodded. He was getting weary of why the man was bringing up the punks’ name. "Well," The old man started. The way that he acts both inside and outside this school is actually harming our reputation. If we could, we wouldn't have let him in the school in the first place. However," The man took in another deep breath before letting it out again. "His father sends in high donations to this school, so there is no way that we could deny his son from entering this school."
"So what is that you want from me?" Seth questioned. The man glanced around for a moment. He fidgeted a little, that caused Seth to accept the weary he was feeling before to rush through his body. "I want you to do me, no, the school a huge favor." "And what is that?" Seth question.
"We would like you to befriend Mr. Bell. If you do that, you can keep him in line as much as possible." Seth gave Mr. Donalds a strange look.
"Befriend him. I don't think that would even be possible. We are completely opposite from each other. There is no way---"
"But sometimes it can be possible." Mr. Donalds interrupted the teen. "There are several people that are opposites and become really good friends." Seth started at the man. He didn't want anything to do with the other teen if possible. He looked like trouble that he didn't want to be involved with. "Please!" Mr. Donalds begged. "We need to do something about Mr. bell. If we can't and let him do what he wants, it can cause a major problem in the future to our school."
"What do you think that he would do to cause a problem?" Seth questioned. He didn't really care for the answer, but the man in front of him was scared of something. Was it coming from someone above? Did they really think that Leon would be a problem student that can actually trash the reputation of the school?
"He has caused a few issues that I'm not liberty to discuss here." Mr. Donalds grabbed Seth by his shoulders. "But I am begging you. Please. Think about it." "I don't think--"
"Don't think. Just do. Try your best to befriend him. See if you can get into his personal life to make sure he doesn't do things that would hurt this school."
"Umm ..." Seth began. "You do realize that you're asking me to do something that is against human rights. You're practically asking me to become his stalker. You want me to watch him and school, and also outside. I understand that the schools’ reputation is something we want to keep in good standings. However, barging into someone’s private life is just wrong on so many levels." Mr. Donalds let go of Seth’s shoulders and let them fall into his lap. His head hung down as he spoke.
"I can understand where you are coming from." The older man rose his head up to look at the teen. "If you don't want to befriend him outside of school, then can you at least watch him in school? Like make him come to class?" Seth let out a sigh. No matter what. It looked like he would be forced to be around the other teen.
"OK. If it's only in school. Then I will do my best to watch him." Seth smiled at the teacher.
"I really hope this works out." The older man smiled back to the teen. "We want to keep someone like that under control while he is in our school." Seth nodded in agreement. He wanted this conversation to end.
Seth left Mr. Donalds in the teachers’ lounge. He slowly made his way done the hallway, his mind in chaos. He would have to befriend Leon. He would have to stay by that teens side. For how long? Graduation? Would he be able to do that? Would he be able to control someone that doesn't even respect higher authority? He knew that there was no way that he could even think about controlling someone like that. What he truly didn't understand was why he was picked of all people. There were so many other people that were capable of doing such a thing. He wasn't even on the student council, but yet he was picked for the job.
"His father donates a large amount of money."
So what his father is rich. That doesn’t mean you can let someone do whatever they want. Seth stopped and let out a sigh. If he could get the teen to go to class would be pretty easy. The school is set up where the students stay in one room, while the teachers jump from classroom to classroom. There are only a few that the students have to go to separate room. So if he could get Leon to come to class, the only thing he would have to do, is make sure he doesn't try to run away. But, how would he be able to get him to come to class in the first place? Seth's thoughts swirled in his head of what he would be able to do.
The sound of the bell had gone off letting the students know the class was over. It was the last class of the day. Several bodies made their way out of the room. Seth noticed that Leon was not one of them. When he came back from talking with Mr. Donalds, he realized that the other teen was no longer there. He was not going to go searching for him. He kept thinking to himself why he didn't turn down the older man no matter how much he begged the teen. He didn't want to be what would be considered as a babysitter for the other teen. However, since he had agreed. He needed to keep up his side. Seth sighed as he stood from his desk. He would need to figure out how to get that guy to come to class. If the teen didn't show up to the school, he couldn't do anything about it. However, if he did. The words Mr. Donalds spoke came back to him.
"I want you to watch over Mr. Bell once you get back to class. Try to befriend him. But, if for some reason you are not able to. Then find him before class starts. The teachers will know what is going on and will also be giving you their support as well. However, even though I am asking you to do this. Please don't be too late to your own classes. If you have an issue, then please leave it and go to class yourself. But I'm not saying to give up. Every time there is a break, try to get him to come to class. I just don't want you to fall behind because of what I am asking you. Though I doubt you would. You are a very smart kid." Mr. Donalds laughed with one of his hands touching the back of his head. The man stopped laughing and wore a stern look. "I am very glad that you are doing this. I know that you can do it no matter what."
Seth sighed. He really didn't want to be involved with the other teen. He knew that he was bad news. He never wanted to get entangled with him at all. He just wanted to go through school with no issues or problems. However, he was now promoted to becoming a babysitter for a punk at school due to his father paying the school money. Why would they do this to him? Why couldn't a teacher just take care of it themselves? Why hand it over to him, who is only a peer with no experience with talking to people like Leon. People that think they can do whatever they want with no consequences. Seth couldn't help but let out another sigh. Being so deep in thought, he found himself at his home. He must have been on autopilot due to not remember leaving the school. Unlocking the door, he made his way inside the house. All the lights were off showing no signs of life. He was home alone again. Something that he was used to. His parents worked pretty late. Seth closed and locked the door before making his way up the stairs and to his room. Opening the door, he made his way into his room. His room was cleaned from any clutter. Everything had its place. Seth only had a few things. A bed, dresser, and a desk he used for his studying. There was a closet and a small book shelve, but other than that. It was bare. The young teen laid his bag on the floor and plopped onto his bed. This day was extremely tiring than usual. So many things were just going through his head, and he wished he could stop them. "Me.... trying to befriend a punk like that. Is that even plausible to even do?" Seth couldn't help but chuckle at the stupid question. He already knew that the result was going to be a bad one.
