DESTINY BECKONS

Dacia was on the ground, kneeling beside a very still and bloodied Kadar.

She wasn’t weeping, but her eyes were red with animalistic fury and bloodlust.

Iola had never seen Dacia look like this, and she hoped she would never have to again.

The six men who were surrounding them were in the darker uniforms and cloaks than regular City Watch guardsmen, and Iola was inside the head of one of them.

“Give up now, woman.” One of the black cloaked guardsmen told Dacia in a cold tone of voice. “Or you suffer the same fate as your traitorous friend there.”

“Never, swine.” Dacia spat out blood. “I’ll gut every one of you bastards first... imperial elite or not.”

“You have no chance against us.” Another of the towering soldiers growled. “Be thankful that Lord Esamus wants you taken in alive.”

“I’ll kill that lizard with my bare hands.” Iola shuddered at Dacia’s blood-curdling shriek.

“Enough talk.” She heard the man’s whose head she was in yell, and then felt the rush as the man moved rapidly toward Dacia.

Iola’s eyes went wide with fright at the sight of Dacia leaping right at her with a wicked looking dagger drawn.

She saw a large muscular forearm block Dacia’s stabbing arm and twist it around.

Dacia’s grunt of pain was heart wrenching for her to hear as Iola experienced her host’s actions.

She felt as if she herself was spinning Dacia roughly around and brutally clubbing the mercenary on the head with a mailed fist.
