“Took you long enough Edge Lord.” Alkali said shoving my shoulder as I walked past.
“Yeah yeah mom.” I said under my breath.
“What’d you say brat?” She said grabbing my shoulder.
“I said,” then raising my voice, “YEAH YEAH MOM!” I yelled pulling away from her and started running down the street backwards. Alkali was my age, eighteen, but she acted like a mom, she hated being called mom by the way. She had dark gray-brown hair and darker skin, she had a couple white dots under her eyes and she had deer ears and a deer tail. Her second half was, if you couldn’t guess, was a deer. She had pale sea-green eyes which went well with the water power.
“Shut it Fang, tryna have a good first day. Remember if you get into another fight I will literally kill you and make you pay for the next round of groceries.” Alkali said, easily catching up with her long legs. Alkali was around 6 '3 1⁄2” and I was around 5’9”. Lola ran to catch up with us.
“Why do you have to run?” She gasped trying to catch her breath.
“Meh,” I shrugged, “and I won’t get into another fight unless…”
“No buts Fang.” Alkali glared at me.
“But my butt is attached to me Alkali, it would take an expensive surgery to remove it so unless you wanna pay for i-”
“Fang,” She sighed and I smiled, “Shut up you know what I mean.”
“I know.” I smirked earning myself another smack upside the head. “Ow,” I rubbed my head and made a pouty face. “That hurted.”
Alkali smiled, “Wasn’t meant to.” Lola giggled as she skipped along the edge of the sidewalk.
“So, we picking jobs this morning I’m guessing?” I asked looking at Alkali but keeping an eye on Lola in case she slipped.
“I believe that’s what the letter said, what do you think you’re gonna do?” Alkali asked, scratching her head.
“Not sure, I might go for something dumb, if they want us to do something with our elements then I’ll have to do something with fire, which will be hard to find.”
Alkali sighed, “Fang, I know for a fact that that’s crap. You know what you wanna do more than anyone in that school.”
“Well you’re wrong Kali.” I sighed, “Plus that so-called “talent” is shit. You know I don’t like to share it anyways.”
“Fang-”
“Alkali don’t.” I said pulling my hood up over my face. Yeah my “art anxiety” is pretty bad....
“Ok, what about you Lola?” Alkali asked, changing the subject.
“I wanna have a flower shop!” She smiled, we all knew that was her dream.
The school came into view just as a bell could be heard coming from inside.
“Shit we better hurry up!” I said running towards my first day of senior year.
