My morning was going the usual, I got up from bed, showered, dried my very waste length light brown-almost blonde hair. I put on a pair of pale blue jeans and a blue blouse. My ancient phone rang with a new message from Linda, which said:
Don’t forget to bring money
I sighed. It going to be another long day with them. I said my good-byes to mother and made my way towards the front of the house, there Linda and her group waited for me.
“Misty! What took you so long?”
“I’m sorry I was making sure not to forget anything.” I responded.
“Well hurry up, we gotta now walk fast if we wanna make it to the first movie’s show time.”
We made it with a few minutes to spare, as I bought everyone’s ticket and snacks they requested. They would speak loudly and saying countless ‘thank you’ to be heard all across the theatre’s lobby, making it seem I was being a most generous friend. I rolled with the punches, for deep down this was all a punishment. I was letting myself be bullied at thirteen, by four girls and their leader Linda. I continued to smile and hear myself repeat how I didn’t mind.
After two hours of sitting through a chick flick on teen romance, the movie was finally over. I hated that my Saturday day was being spent with them, I rather be at the Saphine’ s Animal Shelter caring for the many pets that could use my help in making their day better.
“Well if that’s all, I have some things that I need to do Linda.”
“Look at her girls, she thinks she can order me around. Listen Misty, you work for me for the next two years of school. Anyway, answering your most rude question, no we are not done. You’ll be inviting us to a nice drink over at this café called Dulce’s Café, it’s a 10-minute walk, after that you can leave us.”
“Fine.”
I always preferred staying on my own, back at my old school before moving into Saphine City, I was a friend to everyone, no one ever mistreated me. We treated each other with respect, because there was so much respect, I stayed on my own mostly everyday working in the library or just reading a good book. My first day at my new middle school, I found Linda bullying another classmate into giving her a bracelet, the girl refused saying it was a family heirloom. Linda threw her into the ground, I rushed and shouted to leave her alone. One thing led to another and now I was their errand girl till I graduate.
We were just reaching to the café, there were some tables outside of the small location and notice a young man drop his pen, I rushed over and picked it up. “Here you go sir, you drop this.”
Taking the pen from my hand he smiled and said, “why thank you miss.”
“No problem,” I smiled back at him.
“Misty c’mon we are about to enter!”
“Coming!” I was just going through the door when the whole world shook.
