Leon's POV
I wake to see I was in a dimmed room laid upon a quilted blanket. I don't remember falling asleep in a room like this. It was dull and bleak. From where I lay, I could see two cushioned chairs, placed to face each other with a round, slightly worn table positioned between them. Turning my head, I could see the rooms door slightly opened. Where was I? My body felt heavy and my head pounded as I reached to open the silver draped curtains next to me.
Quickly shutting my eyes from the bright light that suddenly filled the room, I backed away. I heard the door open wider as I rubbed my eyes. I turned to see Violets face peep in. "Good morning." She said. " Violet? " I murmured. "I figured I'd let you sleep, you looked really tired, so..." She trailed as she smiled.
I slumped back on the bed, "We're still at HQ aren't we?" I asked. I stared at the ceiling before seeing Violets face hover over mine, " Yup. " She sat next to me, pulling a strand of her dark flowing hair behind her ear. "Does your head still hurt?"
"You bet." I sighed, positioning my body to face hers. "Mind if I try something?" She asked, placing her hand to cover my eyes. " What? " I asked and stilled, not knowing if I was allowed to move or not. My eyes shot wide open, feeling her lips against mine. They stayed there for a moment before I felt our lips part. She removed her hand as I sat up to see her glistening amber eyes. "It's a healing thing." She concluded.
"Not what I was expecting." I said but my eyes stayed locked on hers. "Yeah, it's an ability of mine. Does your head feel better?", She blushed. The pounding in my head dulled to a stop. "Yeah, thanks." I answered and gave her a casual smile. She stood, " Good, shall we go explore more? "
Before she could take another step I grabbed her arm, twirling her around and pulling her into me. Her face came closer to mine. "Leon?" She questioned hesitantly. Her surprised look turned to one of playfulness . I chuckled and smirked as she lightly shoved at my shoulder. "Stop playing around." She said giggling.
Violet crossed her arms as I slipped past her. "Unexpected?" I questioned smugly. "Possibly." She mumbled. I chuckled again, seeing her shoot a glare in my direction. "We gonna go?" I asked, suppressing a smirk. "Hmph, yes we are." She turned her nose to the air, and playfully bumped me out of the way with her hip as she walked by.
...
After a few hours of exploring HQ with Violet, I decided to go wander alone for a bit. I headed down a hall that looked similar to all of the others and started hearing faint voices. I came to a stop and tried to listen in.
"What do you think the Boss is gonna do with that newbie, what was his name, Liam?" A man's voice stupidly asked. "No you idiot! His name is Leon, and I don't know." A woman's voice trailed after. "You know, I heard the Boss is just using Violet to get on the newbie's good side so that he'll stay here to fight with us. " The man continued. "Violet was okay with that? Boss plays dirty like that sometimes..." The woman added. "Yeah. I heard it's working too, I almost feel bad for the kid. I would feel like a total moron if I was him. " The man sighed.
I felt my hands curl into fists as I turned to head back.
