Something bubbled up in my chest when I saw them. I wasn't quite sure what it was, but it burned.
"Jace!" I whined. "Why didn't you wake me up?" My twin laughed while he was pouring milk into a glass.
"I tried but you just groaned and told me to get out."
"That sounds like something I would do." I rubbed my tired eyes while I worked my way to the island. My mom actually made breakfast for us, bacon and eggs. Normally my mother and father are in a rush to leave for work but today they made breakfast. "Wow, would you look at this." I said while presenting the plate.
Have a wonderful day boys! My mom always wrote notes for us when she made food. It was embarrassing sometimes but in a sweet way.
"They went in late so they made food." Jace served me a plate of bacon and eggs, one strip of bacon and a lot of eggs. While my brother got three strips of bacon and a small amount of eggs. We are always the opposite when it came to food.
"You know, I really love mom's food. Food made from heaven am I right?" Jace laughed while he played with his food before gobbling it down.
"But dad's BBQ skills are the best. The way his food turns out is amazing."
"Oh, facts. It is good." Then we continued to bond over our parents cooking. Today, Jace was being nice to me. I'm not quite sure why, but he was.
As soon as I finished, because I'm such a slow eater, we dashed out of the house into my red Toyota. My brother and I often exchanged who was driving us to school. Today was my day.
"You need to wash your car, it's so dirty." My brother rubbed his finger on my truck and off came dust. He pretended to be grossed out then wiped the minerals on my shirt.
"Oh fuck you, Jace." He laughed then pushed me into the drivers seat where I began to drive to school.
My twin played his obnoxiously loud music. It was alternative also with pop, he had an odd taste in music. Not that I mind because some of his songs are actually bops but I mean...it's loud.
"I swear you are going to go deaf with the volume of this music." Jace pretend to play the guitar while his brown hair fell into his eyes. "You are so dumb."
"Vacuous is a better term." I rolled my eyes at him.
"Again, so dumb." Jace laughed at me and turned down the music by .001. "Oh, yeah, because that helps a whole lot. I laughed at him while he laughed at me.
"Today is going to be a good day. I can just feel it."
"Uh huh."
My brother raced me to the building which of course he won. And by the time I was at the door I was panting for dear life.
"You are so out of shape." My brother laughed at me while I caught my breath.
"Shut...up." He laughed then proceeded to walk into the building. I gave myself a minute to collect myself then I walked inside.
For some reason I scanned the foyer, everything seemed the same, then I saw it. Something bubbled up in my chest when I saw them. I wasn't quite sure what it was, but it burned. My fist clenched while Serenity twirled her hair in a seductive way. Robin seemed to be enchanted by her and looked like he was swooning. My eyes lingered too long on them. How Serenity puffed out her lips and made her appearance innocent and beautiful.
I don't know why, but I wanted to run up to them and just yank Robin away. But I didn't, instead I sharply turned around and went to some random corner where some nerds were playing with their 3DS.
I was tapping my foot on the floor and my finger against my shoulder.
"Chase, odd seeing you here." One of the twins strolled up next to me holding on to a dictionary (yes, a dictionary, he was holding a dictionary). "You are never on this side of the building. That's because biology is in the other side, correct?" I scanned the boy's face trying to figure out which J was this.
"Umm, change of scenery?" Wow, Chase, good job.
"Oh, I guess that makes sense."
"Hey, how do people figure out who is who? I mean you and your brother look the exact same." Jack (maybe Jake) laughed then pointed to his eye.
"I have a scare under my eye, Jack doesn't." So this is Jake.
"Dude, it's not even noticeable. Do you parents ever confuse you from your brother?"
"No." How the fuck do they do that? They are identical! "Our finger prints are different but you also wouldn't know that." I patted my lip.
"That's crazy. Do you ever just look in the mirror and think you were Jack?"
"Umm, Chase? Why would I— never mind. I should be going." Jake waved his hand at me while he walked into the bathroom.
"I wonder if Jace knows the difference?" I mumbled to myself while I walked to biology which was half way across the world. I would have made it there perfectly fine if Serenity hadn't laughed and slurred Robin's name. I picked my head up to the direction of her voice only to see her leaning against his arm. Of course, Robin was perfectly fine with it. I mean why wouldn't he be? He is Robin Freaking Ryder, a ladies man who dates multiple girls at the same time.
He didn't even look at me... I mean that's fine. I'm not saying he has to stare at me 24/7, but he just didn't look at me. His eyes were glued on to Serenity's lips as she talked nonsense to him. Everyone seemed to be fan-fucking-tastic with this while I had a pain in my chest.
You know, I felt like this couldn't get any worse, but it did. Serenity smiled at me. Her pupils specifically looking into mine. She whipped her long brown hair back and faced Robin. She is doing this on purpose.
"Robin," her voice was so delicate it made my stomach burn. "How about we skip class and go—" She's doing this on purpose. I just pushed passed them and jogged to bio.
Why did I care so much? Robin can do whatever the fuck he wants! He's his own person. So what if some girl is talking to him? That's fine! I practically fell into my seat. My face hitting the table only to be covered up by my arms. I was suffocating myself with my hot breath against the table.
I don't even know who I'm mad at! Am I supposed to be mad at someone? I exhaled loudly. I fucking hate this feeling.
