"You never cease in begging to bother me don't you Ryzel?" I chuckled lightly as I looked him up and down.
I heard small whispers here and there that there would be some type of performance tonight, Ryzel himself even told me! But...I didn’t think he was going to be in the performance himself! From oiled up skin, golden paint underneath his eyes that accentuated his already enchanting honey-colored eyes while it was also used to draw strange symbols and runic marks here and there, a black skirt that was decorated with glowing blue designs while black jewelry hung off his horns and wrapped around his arms and legs! I couldn’t help but feel my cheeks warm up even more at the sight, he was handsome.
I’d never be too stubborn to admit that. “You look like you’re about to go earn some quick cash at a brothel.” I chuckled lightly before I got onto my feet.
Ryzel flashed me a smirk. “Perhaps I am, are you going to be my first patron?” He asked, his voice turning sultry as he suddenly took my hand, my cheeks beginning to burn.
Damn it, what’s wrong with me?! Blushing at the sight much less the words of this idiot?! Perhaps there was something in the chicken that I ate earlier. Quickly however, Ares interrupted us with a stomp of his hoof as he stood up.
“Go and worm your way into some other wench’s bed Incubus.” Ares spat, Ryzel surprisingly holding his ground as he stared up at the centaur.
“How could I ever do that? Her bed is so warm...it’s almost begging me to come back and lie in it.” Ryzel said with a sly smirk before Ares once again stomped his hoof and began to close the distance.
My eyes widened a little as Ryzel slowly but surely pulled me closer to him, my heart began to drum while my cheeks only burned even more.
Seriously...what were these goblins putting in the drinks?! I watched Ares’ eyes widen slightly, Ryzel soon letting out a proud laugh.
“So, the scary Ares finally stops in his hoof-steps? Now that’s something I’ll be bragging about to my sister-” Suddenly Ares’ took out one of his spears, the speed of it shocking me as well as evoking a gasp from the onlookers. The tension only grew more and more...Ryzel still kept his grip on me while Ares slowly started to walk forward once more, the tip of his spear threatening to touch Ryzel’s neck.
“...Let go of her.”
Ryzel did so obediently.
“...You touch her, in fact, if I even see you near her much less her cabin. I’ll show you why I was made her bodyguard.” Ares looked him up and down, his eyes burning with hatred.
“You’re nothing more than a boy who’s embarrassing himself.” He continued, Ryzel scoffing a little before he bowed towards me and walked off.
Strange...my heart was beating a bit faster than usual, has the guy always been that confident around Ares? He usually ran off at the mere sight of him!
“Absolutely disgusting...this is why you have to shoo their kind away. Now look! He’s getting confident!”
“Is this the reason why you don’t have a girlfriend yet Ares? Y’know, because you're constantly criticizing something or someone?” I asked with a huff.
Ares shot me a glare. “I have no need for a woman, I’m preoccupied with trying to protect you from an Incubus who’s getting more and more aggressive in terms of trying to worm his way into your bed.”
I rolled my eyes. “Sounds like someone’s complaining because no one wants to get into your bed.” I snickered.
He glared harshly at me. “Eos-”
Suddenly, the sound of thunderous drumming, the kind that deceived you into thinking your organs were shaking, started to play. The bonfire in front of Ares and I suddenly turned into an enchanting but ominous mixture of dark blue and purple, the sight causing Oos and Ahs from the crowd.
“For the successful conquering of the Orcish lands in the east, the Sun-Dancer tribe has wished to dedicate a dance to this great success!” A Succubus said with a playful giggle, the sight of the dancers beginning to crowd in front of the fire while the music suddenly stopped making me raise a brow.
I saw Ryzel in the crowd of dancers, unlike his usual playful expression, he was serious and focused while his newly glowing eyes only showed determination and focus. Hauntingly beautiful music began to play, instruments that weren’t familiar to my ear began to sound and the demons? They started to dance. I couldn’t and wouldn’t tear my eyes away from the scene, watching the demons dance...their movements sensual and graceful as it was a mixture of quick movements, hip-rolling and performing small magic tricks, it was like watching a flock of black swans on a crystalline lake.
“They are good.” Ares suddenly commented, shocking me out of my enchantment before I nodded my head eagerly.
“They are, I almost have a mind to ask them to teach me how to dance.” I chuckled, Ares, looking down at me with a look of disbelief.
“You? Dance? You can barely even sing little girl.” He said. I let out a mock hurt gasp, my hand immediately going to my chest.
“I can sing! It’s just not as good as yours, I can admit!” I huffed, Ares merely shaking his head before he looked back towards the crowd and sighed.
“Even still, the Incubi and Succubi wouldn’t teach you. It is a performance but also a dedication to the one who founded their tribe.” I raised a brow.
First, how did the centaur know? And second, this tribe was founded by someone?! I always assumed tribes were formed naturally...just a bunch of people gathering and deciding to stick close to one another. I would’ve never guessed that someone actually formed this tribe and decided to hit the dirt road afterward.
“How in the world do you know this?” I chuckled, causing Ares to suddenly point in the direction where the musicians played.
No goblins...only demons. I let out a small ‘Ah’.
“Not to mention, a Sun-Singer and Moon-Singer are getting ready to sing,” Ares said before he pointed in another direction, my eyes widening a little at the sight of the two demons.
A man and a woman...the Succubus had hair that was a golden as the sun with seemingly lighter strands here and there, a petite figure with a peach-colored skin tone, a single horn that protruded from her forehead and was beige-colored and eyes that were completely white! As for the Incubus, however? Like the woman was, he was also petite, a strange sight, seeing as all the tribe members were either muscular or completely jacked! He had hair that was as black as night with light grey strands, a pair of dark turquoise horns that turned red at the top and looked more like a dragon’s and equally peachy skin!
They were neither extravagantly handsome nor beautiful, merely...cute to look at in a way. Suddenly, however, just before I was about to bother Ares with more questions, my ears focused on the sound of the drumming beginning to grow louder and louder while the bonfire seemed to dance fiercely alongside the group. I looked back where the singers originally were and they were gone...however when I looked at where the musicians played. There they were, standing proud while their eyes focused on the sky above. And...as soon as I felt the urge to question when they were going to sing, they did! Their voices a mixture of haunting, enchanting and eerie all at the same time as they sang in their native tongue.
In nostra tenebris, nos perdidit, irons et ferro captanda ossa nostra
Non erat requies, nec dimitte. Benevolentia et Sol erat mere somnium. Oblitus erant, nos, cogitatio in mare.
Nulla spes, nulla spes, quam misera essemus. Timuit daemones? Tale mendacium, magis ignavum mures vel fures in nocte.
A Vulpe, quamvis impar, eam caudis sunt multi. Novem, nos reputabitur! Sed non minus generis.
Dona, sacrificiis, vita nostra, etiam! Illa indignam esse, grates, aut fieri nostra Regina.
Quomodo a Bestia sit talis Columba? A Vulpe Cum Novem Caudas quidem, sed magis, novem corda.
Negationem et negatio, illa noluit nobis, et magis. Narrantes nobis vivere, et prosperabitur, sicut reges!
Sed...fecit sicut enim unum rogans, memor eius misericordiam et transire usque nomen eius.
A Vulpe Novem Caudas, BlueFire erat nomen eius. Nostra rescuer, nostri causa libertatis. Quomodo nos non, sicut illa dicere? Hoc est, ideo cantamus ei nomen.
As soon as they finished singing, as soon as the dancers stopped dancing. I couldn’t speak nor wished to...everything was so beautiful and worthy of all types of roses and flowers being thrown at them! And as soon as someone started clapping, it didn’t take long for everyone to quickly join in.
“They were awesome!” I grinned as I immediately rose to my feet, the sight of the dancers bowing, laughing and smiling in cheer making me chuckle.
A performance that was worthy of the spotlights and even a spot on a TV show! How unfortunate that this world didn’t have those things but...as things began to quiet down a little, I let out a sigh as soon as I felt my collar buzz a little.
How could I ever dare to forget? Telling the tribe of my plans to leave them in order to pursue and do what Ibis asked me to do.
