Late that night Grey, Milo, and two other men snuck out of the little hell hole and left the other three men in the room. Sound asleep.
The little band of four burst out onto the open city streets of Paris. The midnight air chilly as summer turned to autumn. Grey knew the journey would be a long one, but she never would have guessed that it would take thirty hours, four planes, and three limos to get to the rolling gates of the estate. She was exhausted, and gently fell asleep on Milo's shoulder. The past few days had been draining, and she really needed time to heal and recover. But life was not fair in that way. There was too much work to be done, so the rest and full recovery would have to wait.
Grey quietly awoke from her well needed nap. All around she could see the beautiful classic architecture of Italy. The road was lined with big, ancient trees, creating a tunnel of sorts. As the car drew near to the house, Grey could finally catch an astonishing glimpse of her new home. A white stone building lined with archways and slender vines growing up to the terracotta roof. The slender columns and detailed stonework immediately caught her attention. But that wasn’t all that caught her attention. On the sides of the villa lay chunks of stone. Not only was the business crumbling around Milo and his team, but so was their home, their base. Rest will certainly have to wait.
Grey snapped out of her thoughts as Milo started talking. “Well... here we are… home sweet home,” he said and smiled warmly, “I know it’s not much, but it can and will be some day…” He was nervous. He didn’t want her to back away. This was their only shot at redemption.
“Someday soon. Yeah. She’ll be restored to her former glory,” His smile broadened as she said that. She wasn’t going anywhere. She liked a good fixer upper.
Grey, Milo, and Milo’s two other companions were all standing and looking up at the massive three-story villa. “It’s a beautiful villa, good bones, shows the superiority and capacity of the company… but some changes will need to be made... are you ok with that?” she said and then turned to look Milo in the eyes.
“Do anything that you deem necessary,” he said.
