After leaving the Languages building, I managed to find the library. The proper one this time, by some miracle. I spent about an hour there, responding to some emails that my parents had sent me and listening to podcasts. Basically, taking advantage of the heaters in the room that at least provided me with some warmth. I was sitting in a cozy corner of the library that had the strongest connection to the free wifi. The aisle I was sitting near was Zoology, so no one really needed anything from there.
Afterward, I packed up my things and headed to my next class. My parents had opted for me to take seven classes instead of the usual six, and that aggravating brat James was in two of them. EN50, a writing class, and FL22, Latin class. By the way, Latin? Seriously? Sorry mother, but it's a dead language. The only people who actually use it are ten-year-olds looking for an edgy username for slither.io or something.
During my second class with him, he was relatively quiet. Cold, even. It was weird, especially when compared to how he wouldn't stop bugging me earlier that day. It left me with a rather peculiar feeling. However, I brushed it off and continued dragging myself to lectures that I didn't really care about. At about five in the evening, some random girl came up to me. "Hey, so, how was your first day at school?" She asked, all cheery. "Great. It was great. Everyone here is so...nice," I lied through my teeth. Her eyes widened. "Dude, your accent! Are you British? I love your voice!" she laughed. I took a step away from her, slightly taken aback at how forward and enthusiastic she was. I, on the other hand, could barely keep myself from plummeting to the ground in exhaustion.
"So, Grayson Hall is having a small party to welcome all the freshmen, and I was wondering if you would be interested in coming," she asked, still grinning from ear to ear. What do I do? I most definitely do not want to go to some dumb party, but if I say no, does that make me a bad person? But I'm drained as hell, and I'll just spoil the fun anywa- "I'll take that as a yes. Meet me at Grayson Hall about 8-ish?" she asked, interrupting my internal struggle. I nodded with a pained smile. "Sure, sounds great!' I held two thumbs up as well, just to show her how "great" it was. "Yay! See you there!" she squealed, wrapping her arms around me before skipping away without a care in the world. I simply stood, paralysed, wondering what on earth had just happened and why. Thoughts just flooded my brain, and my mind went blank. Lame, I know, but I'd had a long day and had just agreed to make it even longer.
Oh god, this is going to be one rough night.
