A sharp pain pierces through my head as I awoke. Groaning,I place a hand on my head to soothe the discomfort. As I shifted uncomfortably, I noticed that my old clothes had been replaced by unfamiliar ones. When had that happened? Taking note of my new apparel, I propped myself up and attempted to get a good look at wherever I was.
The room was strange and foreign; taking in all of my new surroundings, I rubbed my forehead. The light blue walls of the room seemed to be drowning me, washing over me in cerulean waves, making my head throb even more violently. I tugged at the light blue colored blankets of the massive bed I was in, making my way towards the door. I gently swung it open, careful not to make much noise.
I peeked out into the hallway, noticing many doors adorning the walls of the long corridor, similar to the door I had just pushed open. I wondered who could need so many doors... Was this a king’s castle?
A thousand questions swam through my head, with no answers to accompany them.
All I knew was that whoever had brought me here had led me to his master, and that my home was many miles away. Knowing that there had not been any castles besides the capitals one by my town. I ignored the fear collecting in the pit of my stomach and stepped out into the hallway, determined to find an exit.
Wandering down the winding passageway, I felt I might get lost if I took the wrong turn. After what seemed like an hour I came to an open door, which beckoned me inside. I slipped soundlessly into the room, which was identical to the room I had awoken in, except that this one was painted a vivid red, which was smeared across the walls like melted rubies.
Amongst the bed, I noticed a body, looking to be asleep under the red blankets. Their chest rising and falling gently.
I held my breath, hoping that my footsteps had not awakened the unnamed entity who occupied the bed before me. Silently moving closer to the bed, my eyes widened as I took in the scene before me. There was a man lying in the bed, a black robe clinging to his slender form. His exposed chest was defined, I hoped that he couldn't hear my racing heartbeat. His blood red hair, which was shoulder length brushed against his face. His below eyes had three black crescent lines on each side and he had long, thick, black eyelashes. His face was slim, and I smiled at how content he looked sleeping there, his breathing steady and faint.
My eyes wandered to his arms, which were covered in beautifully intricate black ink tattoos. His nails were long and sharp. He looked so peaceful. Mesmerised by such beauty, I caressed the side of his face. His skin, soft and smooth, I begin to trace the contour of his cheekbone.
"Amazing," I whispered. His eyes flew open. Grabbing my wrist, he pulled me onto the bed letting out a shriek. I winced as his grip tightened.
"I sensed you ever since you entered this house. Who are you?" He stared intently into my eyes. I remained silent, gazing into his steel grey eyes. He did not let go of my wrist but I felt his other hand make contact with my skin. He runs his hands over my waist before moving his hand up to my chest. "A woman?" he asked, feeling my chest. I blushed madly and shifted uncomfortably.
"Can you get your hand off my chest?" I said, embarrassed and a little annoyed. Being under a man was something I never had experienced before and I did not want to start now. He smiled, I noticed that the sides of his teeth were sharp and pointy. Never before had I seen someone with his characteristics; he appeared to be of high status judging by the massive room he was in and his demeanor.
"Lae!" he yelled, still studying me. I heard footsteps in the hallway. The person who brought me here entered, smiling and bowing.
"Yes, Master?" he said, his eyes on the handsome stranger.
"I demand that you tell me who this woman is," my captor replied, moving his hand to my hair and then my face. His movements are strange, and his facial expressions are unreadable.
"I found her escaping from a place in Sho and felt like she would be a perfect pick for you," Lae answered. The grey-eyed man pondered this for a moment, and then turned to me, his eyes piercing through mine.
"Your name?" he asked. I swallowed my pride and answered him. "My name is Luce Rose," I said softly, almost inaudibly. The red-headed man's hardened expression softened and an unusual look crept into his glistening grey eyes. "You did well, Lae. I will keep her," he said, grinning at the other man. He let go of me, and carelessly pushed me off the bed. Regaining my composure quickly, I made sure not to fall flat on my face. "Dress her accordingly," he added, and I felt anger bubble up from deep within. How dare he shove me!
Lae nodded, and my rage melted into bravery. "No, I want to go home," I said, boldly. The unnamed stranger turned to look at me, his eyes blazing with anger.
"I do not have time for this. You will obey me!" he yelled, and I flinched, shocked by his volatile change in mood. I struggled not to cry as Lae grabbed me by the arm, pulling me out the room.
When we were safely in the hallway, he spoke.
"He's quite upset at the moment, don't mind him," he whispered, a shadow of near sympathy etched across his face. "He wouldn't have gotten so angry if you hadn't challenged him," Lae added, the touch of understanding gone and replaced by frigid irritation.
He led me back to the blue room I had awoken in. Once we were there, He let go of my arm,he let go of my arm, which had marks on it from his grip. He massaged his temples, looking at me, his frustration evident.
"Please don't argue with Master, or he will be displeased," he said coldly. “I will inform you of the details later” quickly exiting the room.
I walked over to the bed and eased myself into a sitting position, still trembling. Thoughts of escape drifted through my mind as I thought about Father. He was probably heartbroken and lost without me; I missed him so much!
My heart shattered, and I began to cry, silent tears dripping down my cheeks.
At least Father was not in debt anymore, maybe now he could find a way to live a decent life. Maybe it's better now, as he does not have to watch over me all the time. I closed my eyes, breaking into tears as I wepted.
Barely conscious I could hear a pair of footsteps approaching, coming to a halt when they reached my door. A soft sign could be heard as I finally drifted off to slumber.
