I Work For The Devil?

Chapter 10: In-Describable Mess - Part 1

Chapter 10: In-Describable Mess - Part 1

Apr 16, 2020

Brother? I strained my neck to get a peek at this 'supposed' brother of Dante's. His broad shoulders and huge built wasn't really helping.

I tip toed slightly to the side so that Dante wouldn't notice. Unfortunately for me, Dante's bat like ears picked up my slight misstep and he once again, put his body in front me. Huffing I glared at his back, boring my eyes into him hoping he'll get the message.

Contradicting Dante's intention to keep hiding me, I pushed his body aside with all my might. After getting his back out of my line of vision, I held my position with confidence with my arms crossed against my chest. Hoping to look intimidating against our intruders, I ignored the glare that Dante was throwing at me.

Our visualizing hatred was halted when a mix of a cough and a laugh broke the tension that had once been held in commission.

Both our heads turn towards the noise. The guy in the dark black robe was smiling while staring at us. Even though I couldn't see his face the moonlight illuminated his smile. I shuddered as it sent a bad feeling down my back...

"Pink?" The black hooded guy spoke up. His voice seemed somewhat familiar but I shook the feeling off.

I turned towards Dante who still had the pink apron on from when we were baking. Even with the situation at hand a smile crept onto my face and the feeling to laugh barged in. I chuckled whilst still staring at Dante. A light pink color spread onto his cheeks and he ripped the apron off and threw it behind him whilst still glaring.

"You're no brother of mine."He spoke with such hate that it shook me. He shook his head and laughed sarcastically. He shifted his eyes back to the black robe guy alongside a dangerous glint which was now set in his eyes. Never before had I seen Dante like this.

"So, which one of you is it hidden under the robe. Damian or Derek."

The dark robe guy laughed at this.

"As much I would love to visit you like this occasionally brother. I'm not here for you."

Dante raises an eyebrow at this. The guy in the black robe raised his hand and pointed in my direction.

"I'm here for her."

Dante tenses and growls. "Touch her and I'll tear you apart, limb, from limb." His voice resonated through the now silenced room.

"Now, now brother. You don't want to test me. Just hand us the girl and we'll be on our merry way." He extends his hands towards me.

Dante puts his body once again in front of me and this time I don't protest. From the corner of my eye I see the three 'rouges' standing there, just watching us. They seemed in control of what they were doing. Had they harnessed their power? I though that was a very difficult thing to do and here there were three of them who had seemingly done it.

The dark robe guy chuckled at this. "It's your funeral." I remembered when Dante said that 'rouges' weren't really a problem for him. But I'm guessing he was talking about ones that had lost control. The dark robe guy raised a finger and the 'rouges' attacked.

Dante side stepped pulled something out of his jeans pocket and smashed it onto the ground. Smoke embedded us all moments later. The laugh of the dark robe guy rumbled around.

"Smoke screen? It seems as if you've lost your touch Dante."

Due to the fact I couldn't see a thing in front of me I held onto Dante's shirt tightly. He turned around and looked me in the eye.

"Laura. For once in your life listen to me okay?" His voice held so much desperation causing me to just nod numbly.

"There should be a button under the island. Push it and a door should open in the wall next to it, it's soundproof so you should be safe in there for a while. Stay there until I take care of this." He states.

"No way! I'm not leaving you here with these hooligans." I point a finger randomly into the fog. Dante takes both of my hands into his own. He says a single six letter word that makes my resolve crumble.

"Please" His eyes were pleading with mine. I could tell the smoke was withering away. Sighing I nod at him and run towards the island. I put my hand under it until I felt something like a button. I press the thing and the wall beside it start opening. I look back at Dante and he just nods towards me smiling. I could feel tears threatening to surface but I pushed them down.

I run into the door and there's a button on the inside. I push it and keep staring at Dante until the door closes blocking him from me. Then the tears come. One slips down my cheek and I could feel others follow. My heart was still beating from our encounter from before yet it clenched when I think about Dante. He's out there protecting me.

I should've told him about my mark earlier.

"In the end I gave her my shattered soul. What I didn't know is that she'd mend my soul back together and take my heart along with it." - Dante * * * *

Laura Clinton is an average high school girl struggling to finish her senior year. Or so she thought. There are four basic rules that she sticks by,

1. Keep your head down
2. Don't draw attention
3. Focus on studies

And the fourth rule that she's determined not to break...

4. No Boys

Now enter Dante Demitri. The classic lovable bad boy. Worshiped by girls and admired by all. From anyone looking from the outside he's got everything. From looks to money to popularity. But he's got a past that he's running from and adamant on keeping hidden. A past not of this world. Hence the faraway look and emotionless eyes.

That is until Laura Clinton comes crashing into his life... literally. Laura feels her morals slowly crumbling away. Can she afford to let him in? Can her sassy attitude and closed off personality shatter the bad boy's walls, or will she crumble alongside them? But what Demitri doesn't know is that Laura's got a past she's left behind as well. Sparks will fly, morals are broken, what comes next... only time will tell.
