"Light the torches men!" Captain Axel Dieter commanded, his booming voice ricocheting off of the caverns walls with an echo as he steered the Wenches Bed expertly, "It may not appear to be too dark lads' but we need to keep our eyes peeled." And at the Captains command his crew members had immediately begun to scuttle towards the torches that were littered around the ship.
I watched as Captain Axel Dieter had signaled to one of his men to take over controlling the ship, as soon as the Captain's gaze had ever so slightly set upon the man he had signaled for, he was immediately by the Captains side. After successfully off handing his task to one of his crew members, Captain Axel Dieter had then swooped down from where he had stood on the mantle of the ship and had begun striding toward the direction of the post that I was unfortunately attached to.
"I think it were about time to find something more fitting for you to wear" Captain Axel Dieter said as he reached me, gesturing at the unfortunate predicament I was dressed in. As he had reached my form he had also begun to unleash me from the tangle of knots that surrounded my now trembling form. I'm not proud to confess that Captain Axel Dieter's mere presence terrified me to the extent that I end up shaking violently, but I also have to reassure myself that he is the infamous Captain Axel Dieter, so therefore it isn't uncharacteristic for a man to be scared.
And just before I was able to relieve myself from the flowery clutches of the loose nightgown I wore in exchange for something more fitting for a man, a low rumble bellowed throughout the ship, the bellow seeming to have subjected the ship to a ravenous quake that caused the Wenches Bed to violently tremble. The crew members had then paused they're task of lighting the torches all around the ship, everyone becoming silent and as still as possible as the ship continued to quake.
At the cue of the bellow causing the Wenches Bed to quake, Captain Axel Dieter hurtled himself toward the ships edge, his head stretched to peer abroad the ships surface as his emerald eyes were firmly stuck on searching intently for something, his crew immediately following in his actions. All of the crew members huddled around Captain Axel Dieter as they're heads peered above their Captains as they began to search curiously abroad the ship.
"There doesn' appear ta be anythin' down there Cap'n" Stated one crew member, after a still moment, he looked across to Captain Axel Dieter for an answer whom gestured for silence in response to the man as he continued to curiously search the water with his sharp emerald eyes.
From where I stood loosely hugging the post, finally unleashed from the ropes clutches, I could see that there were no visibly angry ridges obscurely protruding from where the torches light touched. I was also able to see that the walls of the cavern were much too far to be a threat to the ship.
Captain Axel Dieter then moved from the ships side and then carefully made his way to the front of the Wenches Bed to survey whether the obstruction was present there as the Wenches Bed continued to bob on the waters surface. As Captain Axel Dieter continued to cautiously move along the ships side, his crew scuttled close by in a herd. "Spread out!" Captain Axel Dieter growled with irritation, flinging his right arm in they're direction. The crew members then sprinted to all different locations across the ship as everyone's heads were firmly situated abroad the ship, except mine of course. "And somebody, guard that door!" Captain Axel Dieter yelled with force as one of the larger crew members hastily lumbered by me to 'the door.'
Then, all of a sudden, the Wenches Bed had unexpectedly leaped into the air as crew members had begun to fly overboard the Wenches Bed, and as the ship had heavily landed back onto the waters surface, Captain Axel Dieter's form catapulted overboard.
The scarce amounts of crew members that had luckily managed to stay on board the ship sprinted toward the front of the ship in a frantic cluster, as the Wenches Bed continued to violently quake and groan from the anxious waves below.
"Captain!"
"Captain!!!!!"
"Cap'n!!!"
After the Captain fell overboard, some of his men had then decided to dedicate they're time to searching for Captain Axel Dieter by frantically surveying the water, which seemed rather difficult considering a grand big wave would introduce itself half the time and smack them to the other side of the ship. Whilst others were desperately bending over collecting water into buckets and then hurtling its contents overboard, which seemed like a pointless task due to the fact that every second a wave of water would dump its contents onto the main deck.
And as for me, I was positioned exactly in the middle of the ship, out of the midst of the chaos as I was conveniently forgotten.
That was, until, a frantic stocky looking man had stampeded toward my direction with two buckets in hand. He roughly shoved one of the buckets into my chest and had begun to yell at me with demands as he frantically threw his hand in the air, but I couldn't focus, not when a large beasts head had then abruptly appeared in my sights as it escaped free from the depths of the water.
It's surface was a mixture of a tinged green mixed with a penetrating sapphire that decorated across its form. As well as the creatures surface, the beasts form was as if it were a distant relative of a serpent, as it had a long narrow revolving body, that sent torpedo's of water to be throttled toward any which way. Its head was colossal, with long frills extending on either side as well as nasty features to decorate its face. It's jaw looked as if it could easily split my form into two with very little effort needed and its teeth were largely numbered as each were double the size of myself with sharp points at they're ends.
I began to tremble at the sight of such a frightful creature, so hideously frightening, my fear causing me to release the bucket from my grasp. The stocky man had then ceased drowning me with his demands after I had abruptly released the bucket from my grip but he then understood why I had when he turned around to face the creature and as soon as he saw the beast he looked as if he were about to pass out.
"Sea Serpent!!" One of the men shouted from the crows nest to the other crew members who were now aware of the beast growling with aggression that hovered over the Wenches Bed, everyone looked beyond terrified when they had fearfully glanced at the colossal creature. After the crew members' announcement related to the irritated sea monster, the remaining men wildly searched the Wenches Bed for a weapon that would be suitable to attack the huge sea creature hovering above.
Captain Axel Dieter's men raced to the front of the Wenches Bed once they had they're hands on a weapon they felt was worthy in fighting the irritated sea creature. Men who held swords and other piercing weapons within they're grasp resorted to jumping off the Wenches Bed in order to dive toward the beast to stab their swords and other weapons into its flesh that caused it to snarl with irritation.
While other crew members hauled canons across the main decks slippery surface, placing them in a formation that aimed toward the monster. One by one they launched ammunition toward the beast, aggravating it further with every explosion that detonated upon its form. The serpent began gnashing at the crew members spread around the Wenches Bed in retaliation, as it then snatched two men from the ships surface to completely sever they're existence, they're remains wedged in the beasts jaw.
With every launch of the canons thundering fire I was easily consumed by my memories, remembering they're destruction upon Lilydale, the bombs that had ruthlessly set the peaceful city night alight with devastating flames, each thundering clap of terror from the canons making me flinch with recognition. The fumes, the smoke, the cries.
The beasts roar made the cavern shake from its terror as the crew members continued to provoke it further.
I was terrified, I was in no position to fight a sea serpent, the only thing that I had ever fought were the soldiers of our opponents in a battle, to be capable of slaying an aggressive beast who lives in the ocean, I felt completely out of my element. Its beaty eyes scanned the ships surface for its next victim, I felt fear course through my veins at the sight of the vicious creature, there was no way I was setting foot anywhere near it.
I felt a rough tug at my arm as a larger member of Captain Axel Dieter's crew roughly pulled me in the direction of the striking serpent thrashing in the water. I struggled within his unyielding grip, slipping occasionally from the slippery surface of the deck, as I demanded that he release me from his grasp but all he did was stab me with a distasteful glare. As I was dragged closer toward the beast another member of the ships crew came from behind and roughly binded my wrists together tightly with rope, the rope already beginning to bite into my wrists. I shouted at them in protest as I wriggled in the larger crew members death grip, but all they did was give me a wry smile as he then shoved me forward, causing me to stumble pathetically.
I looked above at the creature only to find the beasts beaty eyes immediately snapping onto my form, giving me a nasty snarl that caused a vicious tremble of fear to cease my body. It roared in annoyance as the men continued to attack, but its eyes were still locked onto my form.
The serpent then dived forward, its snarling face flying towards me. I raced away as quickly as someone could run who had their hands restricted behind they're back. I was beyond annoyed, just because they could not handle the thought of me being dressed in a flowery night gown did not mean they had to show they're distaste for me by disabling me in such a dire situation. I decided in that moment of running for what little value I held to my life that I would prove them wrong to judge me so quickly, after all, I was Lilydales most trusted knight.
As I continued running from the beasts prying jaws, losing my balance occasionally on the main decks slippery surface, I managed to make it to where an ax had been neglected conveniently in a position away from the creature who was intent on having my form tangled within its jaws. I fell to my knees and desperately began to rub its sharp edge to the rope that binded my wrists together.
I ripped my wrists free from the ropes hold, as I left the ax for a more fitting weapon. I spotted a sword strewn across the main deck in my search for my weapon of choice and decided to retrieve it. Unlike before when I had been impaired by the ropes clutches, I wanted the monster to attempt to seize me again. I stood still waiting for its beaty eyes to snatch my form which didn't take as long as I had expected, my mouth went dry when its beaty eyes snapped onto me.
It came flying forward once again and as it came close enough with its jaws wide open, I swiftly avoided its jaws clutches and side stepped out of the way as I pounced atop the creatures head, causing it to growl with frustration as it began to furiously shake its colossal head. I had clearly underestimated the size of its head as I gripped its scales in order to stay on, the beast continuing to viciously shake. I had originally anticipated that the journey toward the creatures beaty eyes would have been a short one as I had looked at it from the ships main deck but now that I had managed to get on top of the sea monster it looked as though it would take me three years to make it half way through the journey toward its eyes, and it was even more difficult now that it was agitated and shaking uncontrollably.
In hopes to rid me, the serpent had then dove into the water, making it extremely difficult to hold on admittedly. It turbulently swam through the water, slicing through the depths with its speed. It was equally difficult and painful to hold onto the creatures scales, my hands began to dig deeper into its scales in an attempt to keep my grip on the creatures surface.
It then broke free from the waters surface as it seemed to be satisfied enough to revert back into menacingly hovering above the Wenches Bed, snarling aggressively at the crew members who continued to attack. As I was about to commence my journey toward its beaty eyes, I felt a soft tug from behind me, and as I turned around I nearly fell off when I saw it was Captain Axel Dieter.
The Captain brought his index finger to his mouth and continued to make his way closer to me, when he was close enough, he then leaned into my ear, pressing his lips to its surface that sent a shiver down my spine that I chose to ignore. "They have impeccable hearing, its best we stay quiet" he whispered, his voice was low and gravely as he had attempted to make his voice as quiet as possible in order to make the creature ignorant to our presence that remained on its surface.
I looked at Captain Axel Dieter, his face closer then anticipated, his fixating emerald eyes penetrating me, I then leaned into his ear, but didn't press my lips to his as he had done to mine "I plan on poking its eye with my sword" I whispered softly in response as I then gestured to my waist with my eyes, my waist wrapped with a belt buckled around it with the sword sheathed. Captain Axel Dieter nodded in approval as we then carefully made our way down the creatures face toward its beaty eyes.
Once we were near the creatures face, I cautiously laid my body down onto my stomach as Captain Axel Dieter then placed himself between my thighs, gripping them tightly, as he then slowly began to lower me with his strength so that I would be able to then unexpectedly poke the creatures right eye with my sword.
I dangled just above the beasts eye, and without any further contemplation or hesitation, I quickly buried the sword into its right eye. It hissed and growled as it began to writhe and wriggle with discomfort from having the sword wedged into its eye. I went to retrieve the sword so it wouldn't have the sword wedged in its eye but Captain Axel Dieter quickly dragged me back up, clutching onto my waist once I was by his side as he had anticipated the beasts next move where the creature then quickly accelerated toward the caverns roof.
But it all happened too quickly, Captain Axel Dieter lost his grip from the shocking force of the creatures speed causing me to slip from his grasp. I watched him as he attempted to reach out toward me as I flew toward the caverns roof, only to then be knocked completely unconscious seconds later as everything then turned black.
