The four landed on the Galaxy Warp back on Earth. They all sighed in relief, glad to be back after such a distressing trip. After resting for a bit, Bismith used her tool hands to destroy the Galaxy Warp, therefore preventing any Homeworld Gems from taking the easy way to Earth. After that, they all took the Warp Pad beside the Galaxy Warp back to the Crystal Gem Temple. Greg was waiting anxiously beside the Warp Pad. He looked as if he hadn’t slept well for days. After Peri saw Greg, she exclaimed, ‘Greg! Why do you look like a panda?’ And surely, with heavy eye bags under his eyes, dirty, unkept hair, and unwashed clothes, he certainly looked the part. ‘What happened? Where’s Steven? Where are the others? Pearl? Garnet? Amethyst?’ A bit overwhelmed by Greg’s sudden, but expected questions, the new CGs parted to let Steven’s body, held by Bismuth, be in Greg’s full view. He gasped, ran over to Steven’s body, which Bismuth put down on the Warp Pad, tears streaming down her face. ‘Steven, oh Steven. Why did this have to happen to you... Wait, where are Pearl, Garnet and Amethyst?’ Greg, with tears welling in his eyes, pulled up Steven’s shirt, exposing his belly. ‘And where’s Steven’s gem? Rose’s gem? Pink’s gem?’ Connie, crying rivers of tears, pulled out the shards of the Original Crystal Gems for all to see. Greg was speechless. He took their shards, and stared at them. For a few moments, everything was silent, so much that only the sound of the group weeping was audible. Lapis broke the silence, saying, ‘ so what do we do now? We can’t keep Steven’s body here forever.’ Peri piped in, ‘that’s up to Greg to decide, he’s his father after all.’ She nudged Greg’s elbow, who was trying to piece the shards of the OG CGs’ back together. He had succeeded in putting the shards back together in 5 separate gems, but there was no way that they would reform. Lapis, Bismuth, and Peri demanded, ’Connie, why didn’t you tell us that you had the shards earlier? We were so scared about what the Diamonds would do to them!’ Connie stammered, ‘We-ll, I... I picked them up right after- the Diamonds... the Dia-Diamonds... sha- shattered them. We were too busy escaping from that forsaken planet I didn’t have time to tell you I had their... shards.’ The faces on the New Crystal Gems loosened. ‘It’s ok, Connie. We really needed to get off Homeworld as soon as possible. Now, let’s bubble them together. At least they would be happy in there.’ , Lapis said solemnly. They bubbled the OGCGs together in a giant bubble, and put them inside the burning room. Finally, they left, returning to Beach City to tell their friends the horrible news.
