In his dreams, Jun had time to think over the events that transpired, the situation playing through his head a few times. In this time of conscious absence he was consulted by Mars who assisted in Jun’s settling - following comfort with the requests he tried to bring up before. “No doubt there are other people like you. People that are now able to call upon the power of gods. There’s no telling their intentions. Whether responsible or destructive. We can’t trust any others so it’s up to us to remain hidden until we’re able to fight. I know this is one we cannot win alone.” “So we’ll need to find others?” Jun asks. The deity continues, “Many of us made it out and into new hosts. It’s safe to assume there are few around here hiding inside of living organisms. Of course, concealing ourselves like this costs control of our new bodies. So there’s no telling where they’d be.” A while of silence passes by. Jun voices, “So this is a huge guessing game, with dreadfully high stakes. It’s an impossible task,” Jun retaliates. “Unless you want to leave it up to the chance someone else will achieve this. But if nobody does show up then our planet will surely be in ruin.” “Our...” Jun utters suggestively. What was the last good thing that came from a deity? They didn’t care for the planet even a fraction. Unless there was something stopping them.
He awakens to the sound of children outside, memories of what had occurred quickly glossing through his mind. Noticing the spotless ceiling his eyes have been opened to, Jun takes into account the amount of comfort he's getting from his mattress - not at all like home. He props himself up to scan the room, when he suddenly comes face to face with one of the three wanderers. The quick and unpredictable movement takes him by surprise and staggers him to the wall hugging the corners of his bed. "You're awake!" she exclaimed while staring down with a slight smile on her face.
A girl about his age with a crescent of hair flopping in front of her face and a crescent atop. She walks to the adjacent wall of the bed and takes a seat at the chair by the door. "I was beginning to worry when you wouldn't last night. Yesterday the boys came to the conclusion you were dead." "Dead?" he interrupted. "Well you were breathing and all, you just weren't showing any other signs of life." "So quick to judge..." Her expression fades, "Yesterday would have made for four full days of slumber." Hiding his shock, he repeats, "... Four full days." "Mhm," the spark in her face returns, "That's why I'm happy you woke today. Much longer and I'd say we might've just left you here and moved on." Jun turns to her and gives her a concerned look. "I mean, we would have had someone watching over you in our place," she frantically attempts an appropriate explanation, overusing hand gestures to assist the matter. "I mean, why are you so grateful I awoke? We've never met so I don't understand why." Her posture returns, "I'm Aria." "Jun." "We've met now. Just because people haven't met doesn't mean they can't care. That behaviour will only bring you loneliness. In my opinion anyway. Try to break out of that way of thinking." A silence fills the room for a few seconds too long. "Thank you," Jun utters while resting himself up against the wall. "Thank you for caring for me while I was out." She rewarded him with another smile, "You're welcome."
Looking around the room, it's a lot cleaner, more modern than any building he’s seen before. Aria chimes in as his eyes wander, "We're in a village hidden from all who don't know. It was a struggle inviting you in, not any random kid you find down a trail of destruction is welcomed by the higher-ups." "So why was I?" Jun questions. "Because you got lucky," she replied with a cheek. "I'm not allowed to say why so that's all you'll-." "Ah, you've awoken," squawks an elderly man as he welcomes himself inside. "The prince and princess have been so worried about you." Aria's eyes widen and her expression fades, he's just let the secret out. "... Aria especially," he hints, bumping Jun with his shoulder. She fills with embarrassment and falls to the floor, "Please stop talking." "Hehh hehh hehh," he chuckles heartily. "I take it you haven't met Prince Epherum. He may not seem it but I believe he's as soft as this one. Hehh hehh hehh," he continues. Jun amused by his antics, he responds, "Anything else I should know?" "Hehh hehh hehh, yes, boy. The reason our village may seem strange to you when you take notice is because our population is guarded by the element of Water." Aria, shocked by what he just said, another secret given away and hearing that laugh echo within her head. Though it's not like they could have hid that one for long. "My name is Sagittarius. I live in that roughed-up building all the way on the corner, and boy, you come to me if you need anything. Already I sense good in you, you're welcome anytime." "Thank you, Sagittarius," Jun says in a soothed tone. "Hehh hehh hehh," the old man continues, as he limps toward the exit. "But boy...If you choose to sully your responsibility, and turn against us," the atmosphere of the room dulls, a disturbing aura falls over the room and Jun is inflicted with terror. A more serious voice escapes from Sagittarius. "...I'll be the first to stand in your way." With that he takes his leave the way he came in, laughing up the street until mute.
Moments of quiet passed by. "Don't mind him," Aria interjects. "That was the prophet of this town. He's sort of a second layer of protection here." "I understand," Jun responds faintly. “We had someone like him. A satyr, the mayor of Kistern.” "Hnn,” she frowns, “I’m sure a few of them made it out.” “I doubt it,” he sits himself up and hangs his legs off the ledge of the bed. “Aside from my brother, everyone is probably gone.” “Well,” she attempts to ease him, “You don’t know that.” “I suppose you’re right,” Jun responds as to drop the conversation. “The boys are outside if you'd like to go introduce yourself, you'll find them around,” Aria pops, making her way to the kitchen. “Meanwhile I'll cook you up a meal." Jun shuffles himself to his feet, stumbling slightly. "Thank you," he lets out as he heads toward the light of outside.
