Spilt Milk (Hiatus)

Four - Sharp Dressed Man

Four - Sharp Dressed Man

Apr 19, 2020

Jack stood before the booth and nodded approvingly.

"Got lucky getting Scotland..."

His daughter was beside him, she stepped forward to move some of the plates and pamphlets around. "I asked actually, for convenience sake."

"Right," he sighed and chuckled, patting her head. All the classes of students had been grouped three to five to take on a country. Jack was surprised that his daughter had got his birthplace but apparently it was on purpose. Probably for his sake more than hers, considering he made all the dishes and treats they had displayed. He'd had help though from his sister and had Facetimed with his mum.

Jack was certain he'd be taking home the entirety of the haggis. One of Abby's group-mates was poking it with the end of her pencil. Kids.

Still even if it had been for 'convenience' his daughter showing any interest in her heritage made him a little proud. Of course he hadn't expected to wear a kilt, but his daughter insisted. Apparently this was being graded and she wasn't going to take any chances. They looked like father and daughter though as the Family tartan pattern of his kilt matched his daughter's skirt.

Christ the last time I wore a kilt was my cousin's wedding two years ago.

Since he'd be at a school and even for his own comfort he had not gone full Scotch with the kilt. He had on respectable black boxer briefs. Still very breezy. Jack folded his arms and allowed his gaze to wander over the rest of the courtyard of the school where the event was being held. Definitely in search of a particular someone.

A lot of moms were huddled a few booths away giving Jack, unbeknownst to him, a lot of side-glances. Some were concerned and others were a little more leering.

"He looks a bit like a...gangster?"

"In a kilt?"

"Well...the tattoos..."

"I could spread him on a piece of toast, mmm."

"Rebecca!"

"What?"

Now unbeknownst to the gaggle of geese, Mr. Fujimori was just next to them picking up a petit four from the French booth. He adored sweets. Sasha though had heard their conversation and his eyes followed theirs to the man in question. His cheeks warmed just a little. He did have a handsome profile.

Sasha shook his head as he ate a bite of the little cake. Delicious. He really needed to not get distracted by that man. Technically he was seeing someone though it was starting to fizzle out and by fizzle out they had very recently broken up. He wasn't exactly over it. Still, he had to keep things professional. He was determine. Even as he was thinking all that, his eyes caught the man's beautiful green ones. Crap.

Jack grinned brilliantly at his eyes catching Mr. Fujimori's. "Hey, yer super cool chaperone shall return in just a bit, okay?"

Abby sighed. "Okay, dad, whatever but don't embarrass me and don't be long."

How is she already like a teenager? Jack immediately began to make a beeline for Sasha, who began to panic but tried to play it cool. He had hoped to escape but with that Scottish man's height it took very few strides to reach Sasha.

"Hey there."

"...Hello, Mr. McKinley."

Scottish-born Jack McKinley is a single dad just trying to balance raising his precocious daughter, running a pub, and NOT trying to flirt too heavily with Mr. Fujimori, his daughter's teacher. Oops, too late.

Just some fluff, drama, and fun in a big city.
