As the moon rose, it's rays fell down, on a relatively large, male figure, hunched over, on the ground, before a stone pillar. His tears falling on the ground, forming a small puddle, as his hands were clenching at the grass, his voice, still crying in anguish. Close beside him, 3 young women, huddled up together. Although they were silent on the outside, thanks to their telepathy, they shared in their grief, as silent tears, fell off their eyes.
Lily: “I still don't get it?”
Pandora: “Why would Balaur say, that this outcome, is the lesser of two evils?”
Eve: “Maybe, because their time together was short, and they knew it, so they spent it, as best as they could. So that there would be no regrets left, between them.”
Pandora: “But then, why did this tragedy happen? Couldn't he have foreseen it?”
Lily: “He said it himself. Sometimes there are unknown factors, even beyond his control.”
Eve: “So what do we do now? Avenge them?”
Pandora,Lily: “Yes!”
As the first morning sun rays, fell upon Attar, he slowly stood up, silent, and turned to the women. They jumped, as their eyes fell upon his face. His long golden hair, freely flowing behind him, was contrasting, with his blood red eyes. His grief has been such, that several veins in his eyes, had popped, turning the white, into red. Adding to the silver, he now looked like a demon of vengeance. Even the 3, who knew Attar since the day he was born, had never seen him so angry, as they did today. His face, so twisted, verging on madness. They knew, that Attar was in such a state of mind, that anyone who stood in his way, would loose their life. Now they understood Balaur's words to them: “I need you 3, to go with him, help him, and make sure, he doesn't hurt innocent people.” He took a few steps in the direction of the city, turned around, and said to the three:
Attar: “Are you coming?”
Eve,Lilith & Pandora in turn stood up, lined up behind him, drew out their swords and daggers, and with a determined expression, said in one single voice: “Let's GO!”. Attar faced forward, drew out his electrical sword, and without saying anything, set out towards the city.
Like the four horseman of the apocalypse, Attar, Pandora, Lilith and Eve, moved swiftly, and silently into the city, in the early hours of the morning. Unbeknown to them, as they entered the streets, a figure, dressed in all black, was observing them, from one of the roofs. Before they noticed, it was already gone. Below, on the street lay 2 freshly killed corpses. The 4 came upon them.
Attar: “Halt! Ladies, what can you tell me about it?”
Pandora: “The bodies are still warm. Dead, for no more, than an hour.”
Eve: “Bruises on the wrists and ankles, they were bound, for a few hours, before death.”
Lilith: “Shallow cuts on all limbs, broken fingers and pulled out nails. Signs of torture.”
Attar: “All and all, cause of death is severe blood loss, caused by those wounds.”
Pandora: “Judging by the condition of the bodies, and how they were tossed here, this was revenge, and a message to someone.”
Attar: “Haah! Put the weapons away, ladies. We need more information first.”
Lilith: “finally, your breathing is back to normal, and your eyes are white again.”
Attar: “What do you mean?”
Eve: “Your sclera were red this morning.”
Pandora: “Are you not angry anymore?”
Attar shot them a deadly stare.
Pandora: “OK! OK! Stupid question. Anyway, we better find a place to stay. Looks like, we will be here for a while. Do we have people in this remote city?”
Attar: “Actually, last I heard, Castor & Pollux's chain of fabric manufacturing business, has a branch here as well.”
Lily: “That's perfect. And tonight, me and Eve, will head to the local tavern, for more information, on the local Thug gangs.”
They left the bodies where they found them, and soon after, found themselves, in front of a fabric shop, behind which, was a mansion, with several floors of living quarters. The man that received them, didn't show any emotion, or signs of surprise, at their appearance. He simply asked who they were looking for, at which, Pandora showed him a token, made out of wood, after which, she whispered something in his ear. The man bowed down, and showed them rooms, set on the second floor of the building.
Attar: “What was that, that you showed him?”
Pandora: “As merchants, Castor & Pollux, have many friends. It is simply more convenient for everyone, to stay here, than anywhere else in this city. I merely asked for 2 rooms.”
Attar: “Excuse me, sir! Where is the local tavern?”
The man looked at Attar in surprise.
Eve: “Ahem! Attar. You were speaking Egyptian, just now. Remember? Locals can't understand you, unless you speak their tongue.”
Attar: “Haa! I miss the old days.”
Lily: “So do we. Now, unless it's our own people, we have to learn every dialect, of every language, in every century. It's annoying. And tedious.”
Eve: “I agree!”
Attar: “So do I!”
