Ok ok ok, don’t panic just relax, Andrew could barely stop his anxious thoughts as he waited in front of the burger bar. What if this was their first date, was he even wearing the right clothes for it, does that mean they would be dating. Or maybe he was getting way too ahead of himself and they were just getting lunch together, as friends.
I mean who was he kidding the dude didn’t even look gay, he himself barely looked gay. Nicole was always telling him he had the face of a fuck boy and the personality of a shut in. Honestly he thought of himself as the cute and nerdy type, he just wasn't putting himself out there. Nicole though had no right to trash his appearance, she was no better. Always wearing sweats and shirts with food or paint stains on them, the girl never cared much about her appearance even when they were little. Her mother despised it putting her in dresses and doing up her hair, just for her to come home covered in mud and grass stains. That definitely shut her mother up.
“Yo, Drew” someone called startling Andrew from his thoughts, he looked up to see Alex jogging towards him. Now if anyone is a fuck boy it's him.
“Oh hey Alex, long time no see” they used to talk every night before Alex got switched off the late shift, well more of Alex talking while he tried to work.
“Yeah boss let me off, and I just don't get it, does it really matter if I’m late to my shift no one comes in anyway” he leaned against the building wall, making it apparent he was going to stay and chat.
“Yes it does matter, you make the people before you stay nearly an extra hour waiting for you,” he responded, already getting slightly annoyed, “I’m sure they want to go home just as bad as you not wanting to go into work.”
“It’s whatever," he waved off, "Now I can use my nights hanging with the guys instead of wiping down the same counter” Or maybe you could find another job to pay for your tuition, how was the guy even surviving now.
“I bet you miss me though dontcha Drew” He looked up at him with a cocky smile on his face.
“Yeah sure do” He said sarcastically but Alex probably couldn’t tell, he never could or maybe he choose not to notice.
“Awww really I miss you to Drew!” he gets up to hug him “I bet the new guy doesn’t even make your coffee right” Ugh you can’t even make my coffee right it's always way too sweet.
“Yep it's just not the same," he wasn't lying "Ok you can let go now” why was he still hugging him anyway.
“Aww but we barely see each other anymore Drew” he hugs tighter “Just a bit longer”
As Andrew tries to get Alex to let go he sees Tobi walking up, looking a bit confused which is fair since he’s getting squeezed to death by some guy. Andrew finally pushes him off while waving Tobi over, while Alex pouts from being pushed off. He hopes it didn’t look weird, he doesn’t want to give off the wrong signal. Trust me I am available.
“Hey Andrew, who’s your friend here” Tobi walks in between the too as if shielding him from Alex.
“Oh hey I’m Alex, Drew’s friend and you are” Alex moves closer to him as well with a cocky smirk. Tobi glares probably from the nickname.
“Nice to meet you I’m Tobi, Drew and I were just about to grab some lunch so” Tobi turns around and begins leading Andrew inside not even waiting for a goodbye from Alex. He was right it was the nickname.
Andrew at least turns back to smile and wave at Alex, he’s not going to be rude even if the guy bothers him. The excitement comes rushing back as they walk in, him and Tobi have barley ever hung together unless school or coffee related. Finally they can just chill and talk about whatever they please, maybe even get closer, if it’s a date that is.
“Hey I don’t have a class for another hour, I’ll join you guys for lunch”
