So I thought I would explain how this whole prince thing goes in a prince of hell. So I'll talk about Alex's dad and his cousins(I guess). Each of them found their marked one and claimed them as their fated partner(I'll go into more detail about that later on in the story). Each prince can become king for 10 years after they find their marked one at the time when a king is crowned for the next 10 years after they find their marked one. If more than one prince has found or been with their marked one at the time when a king is crowned for the next ten years then those princes will fight for their title. Now I'll explain how Alex is the eldest prince, normally hierarchy is in a single family line but this story basically has five family lines, that can have more then one child. So imagine what the fight would be like for the crowning of king. It's like a blood bath.(Alex's father was one of six princes. Alex has no siblings but there is 9 other princes.) the only reason no one really talks about the crowning in the story is because it's kind of kept a secret among the hierarchy. All the people know is that they get a new king every year and there was once a Queen way before this story and these characters. For the battle, they battle in a huge ring of hellfire that covers the majority of hell. There isn't really occupants of hell, since demons are locked up, unless they're familiars for witches, they're higher ups and they work for the hierarchy. Vampires can't enter hell unless they're one of the princes marked one, otherwise they will burn to death if they try and enter hell. Other species see it as a sacred ground and won't even try and enter unless they were summoned, captured or a marked one.
