[Small spoilers for "The Princess and the Birdcage"
Nina kissed her brother’s pocket watch, for good luck, before turning to her enemies and pocketing it. Nina licked her index finger, then firmly grasping her chain and sickle, “I’ll kill you, I’ll kill everyone, then I can finally be reunited with my brother!” She exclaimed.
The duo situated just a few feet away were stunned, though they quickly snapped out of it, putting on their brave faces and staring her down, each with a smirk on their face. They weren’t scared of her, she wasn’t small by any means, but she didn’t give off a threatening aura, not to them.
In the blink of an eye, the duo was dispatched by Nina, their smirks fading as Nina seemed to teleport behind them, slashing at their throats with such speed that they couldn’t even react. The blood stained Nina’s weapon and splattered onto her face, all she could muster up for the two was a maniacal laugh before she confidently walked off, calming herself down as she did.
When Nina finally returned to base, she took her brother’s pocket watch out once more and held it close to her, giving it a kiss and grinning like a fool.
After a few moments, Homrill appeared, “Ah, you’re back then, Nina? How’d it go?”
Nina quickly pocketed the pocket watch and looked to Homrill, she gave a small smirk before moving closer towards him.
“And what was that you had there? The pocket watch?” Homrill asked.
“Oh, that…” Nina started, “It was just a little thing left to me by my late brother, he was pretty much everything to me growing up,”
“May I see it?” Homrill asked, “It was very well made, I wanted to inspect the craftsmanship,”
Nina nodded, she was a bit weary giving something of such value to anyone, but she pulled out the pocket watch, gave a little kiss to it, and handed it over to Homrill.
Homrill held it to the small sunroof in the ceiling, the only real light that shined down into the room. He rolled it around in his palm a few times before he smashed it down into the floor and broke it in two with the back of his foot.
Nina looked at the broken pocket watch for a moment, just staring into space. Her brain had short-circuited and she didn’t know what to do.
“This is a weakness of yours, Nina, you don’t need this, it’s just a crutch, you know,” Homrill said, “I can’t allow a weakness like this to persist,”
Nina was filled with indescribable rage, her eyes changed color, from the normal gray to a blood-red, they even seemed to glow. She gripped her chain and sickle and launched it at Homrill, who quite simply smacked her weapon to the side, sticking it into the wall.
Homrill clicked his tongue, “I wouldn’t if I were you, I really thought you were a bit smarter than that, Nina,”
Nina just sort of fell to her knees, her eyes reverting to normal, and just stared… She stared blankly into the void. Tears welled up in her eyes and she began to cry, harder than she had ever cried before.
