Haven:
I stay close by, in case either of them needs something. After a while I hear Aylward call for me. He is still on the floor with Amory asleep, practically cradled in his lap.
"I need to get him either in the bed or in the couch, but he is taller and heavier than me. Can you help me, please?"
I raise a brow as I look between Amory, Aylward, and myself, a few times. I am shorter and smaller than both, how can I help move him.
"Would it be easier to make him a pallet on the floor? I can make sure it’s comfortable enough for him, then you can just gently roll him onto it," I watch him as he thinks it over. I can tell he would rather have Amory up on the bed, but it's obvious from the way they are sitting on the floor, and my lack of strength, that it's just not going to happen. He gives me a nod and I get to work making the pallet. I go from room to room collecting as much comfortable stuff as I can find. I luck out in one of the closets there is a mattress topper in there, so he has more cushion than he normally would. Once I get the pallet all put together, I help Aylward gently shift Amory onto the makeshift bed. Once he is on there, I lift his head up just enough to slide a pillow under and leave Aylward to get him covered and turn the lights off.
Walking out of the room and through the house I start to wonder why I have gotten myself involved in this. This is way bigger than I anticipated and those two need someone with more experience. If we end up having to fight or one of them gets seriously injured or ill, I might not be able to help. They need someone with stronger magic.
I honestly thought I would figure things out more on this pursuit, but I haven't. I have no idea what I'm doing. As I pace the living room with my eyes looking down, lost in thought, I bump into Aylward. He grabs my shoulders to steady me, then goes and sits on the sofa.
"What's on your mind, Haven?" He scoots over on the sofa and opens his hand in an offer to sit.
"I don't think I am the best healer to be trying to help you. My magic is not strong, I haven't really made any more progress in figuring things out. If we are attacked any time soon, I might not be able to save either of you," it all rushes out before I have a chance to even think of what I'm saying.
"I didn't let you come just because you volunteered. I researched you, I knew exactly what you had to offer. I believe there is so much more magic in you than anyone realizes. we just have to tap that potential. Even your name brings you more power.... Haven, safe place...."
