Josaline just stood there watching her son leave the mansion. His anger
being heard very clearly from all the cursing. Slowly I walk from the room.
She turned towards me with a smile.
“Now you need to read. I will leave you for now dear one. Do be gentle
with the book please?”
Nodding I watch her walk down the stairs. I walked back into the room
closing the door just leaning against it. How in the hell is all this real? First
demons now angels. Was there anything else they forgot to mention isn’t
fiction? Slumping down to the floor; I just brush some hair from my face. I sat
there in silence for a few minutes before walking over to the book.
:We’ve lost the battle to keep Heaven safe. All the Angels have come to Earth to
take refuge. Our battle began when humans were created. The Demons wanted
to take over their realm but failed. Angels were meant to protect the mortals
but became complacent in their jobs. It is hard to write all this down. Please
forgive us? This put so much strain on those who will be descended from us.
In these trying times we’ve made a deal with the demons. They are not allowed
to interfere with the mortals for at least ten thousand years. After this
appointed time there will be a game to judge the masters of Angels and Demons.
If we lose this game all mortals will become their play things. We must not lose
at all cost. Please to those who descend from us pay close attention. You mus
t never allow the humans to fall to demons. If they do win all hell will break lose
on earth. There will be no place safe even for angels during that time.:
I closed the book not wanting to read anymore. Was everything in this world
a fucking lie? For some reason I felt so angry. Taking a deep breath in I try to
calm down. It didn’t help but at least now I had more information to go on. So
in this world everything was basically a game between angels and demons.
They literally decided the fate of countless people in this manner. I wanted to
go yell at grandmother but decided not too. Leaving the room I locked it
from the inside. The maid looked at me bowing as I headed to the door.
Josaline grabs my wrist as I was about to walk out the door.
“Katerina dear...”
In my head I knew my anger shouldn’t be let out on her. Even though I knew
she wasn't the cause it was hard not to let it out.
“Let me fucking go! You and everyone in this family is such a fucking
hypocrite. You always told me to not do bad things. Yet it looks like our
entire history is nothing but bullshit!”
Josaline let go of my wrist with a pained expression. The maid went to stop
me as well but Josaline stopped her. So it looked like even the help was part
of this charade.
As I got home the sky erupted with rain. Guess it knew how I felt right now.
Everything felt like shit at the moment. If there were so many demons and
angels amongst us...how would I keep Abel safe? Sitting down on the couch I
pull my knees into my chest.
“Why...why did we have to be part of this bullshit?”
The rain kept pouring down harder as I laid down on the couch. Listening to
the thunder outside I close my eyes. Two days pass by without me leaving
the house. I cleaned everything in the house to keep myself busy. Finally I
called Gabe checking up on Abel. It seemed he was doing really good there. I
told him to keep all of the questionable people away from him. Gabe could
tell something was bothering me but knew better to ask with my tone of
voice.
After getting off the phone I take a shower getting into a pair of torn jeans,
loose fitting black shirt, and pull my hair into a ponytail. I was done with
feeling down in the dumps. Gabe told me not to worry about coming into
work for a while. It was actually a relief since the thought of being polite to
those people pissed me off. To be honest there was no plan on where I was
walking too. I just needed some fresh air which made me want to walk. I
found myself at one of the local parks just to sit down on the bench. Off in
the distance Katerina didn’t notice that some men were watching her
closely. She sat there with her eyes closed enjoying the fresh breeze blowing
through her hair. One of the men walked from the group going up to
Katerina.
He leaned down looking to her face. He was surprised when she opened her
eyes suddenly.
“What the fuck do you want?”
The man laughed at her words. His eyes went pitch black as the area around
them turned black as well.
“You really don’t know how to be alert do you bitch?”
Just hearing this man speak made me want to beat his skull into nothing but
mush. Standing up I just feel like fuck it to everything. If I am going to die
because of their war at least let me kill this asshole. Taking a deep breathe in
I lunge at the man to have him evade me easily. He slashes my back licking a
little of the blood from his fingers.
“You taste so sweet and pure. Hard to believe with your personality.”
Really dude you had to throw my personality into this fight. Anger was
swelling inside me once more but it felt like my body was hot. Standing back
up I look to the man to see his facial expression was worried. Glancing
behind me I see Samuel standing there with his blood red eyes. Shit the one
person I didn’t want to see again.
