The emperor sat inside the study hall looking through the pile of petitions requested by his court ministers pause when he heard noises coming from outside the study hall.

The imperial guards that guard outside the study hall have also heard noises coming from the backyard of the study hall. They were about to go check, where the source of the noise is coming from, but suddenly the door to the study hall was open.

The imperial guards could only kneel down and stay with the emperor in case it was assassins.

Even though the emperor has higher martial art when compared to them, it was still better to be cautious then not.

Before the imperial guards could greet the emperor, the emperor quickly motioned his hand to stop them from making any noise.

The imperial guards have been with the emperor for a long time and they all knew what the emperor meant, thus they all kneel down quietly waiting for the emperor's order.

Instead of giving out any order, the emperor walked in light steps straight toward the backyard, where the source of the noise was coming from.

The imperial guards tag along behind the emperor ready to protect the emperor in case it was assassins.

Reaching the backyard of the study hall, without much difficulty they could all spot a small figure dressed in all black like an assassin lay lazily beside the tree.

The imperial guards were ready to make their move toward the so called assassin, who didn't seem to notice their presence, but before they could even take action, the emperor had stopped them. They wanted to refute since they have no idea how strong the assassin was, but what can they do besides listening to the emperor's order.

After regaining some of his energy from his short rest, Zhang Lin then decided to take his plan into action. He got up and started looking for a rock.

Seeing the assassin, who seem to be looking for something and was letting down his guard, the imperial guards really want to take that chance to strike at the assassin, but knowing their emperor's temper they didn't dare to go against the emperor's order in fear that they might not be able to see the sunlight again.

It didn't take long for Zhang Lin to find a rock. After he found the rock, he took off the rope on his waist and tied the rock to one end of the rope and threw the rope into one of the tree branches. Once the other end of the rope had fallen down, he then tied a knot at the end trying to push the knot up to the tree branch.

Upon seeing the scene in front of them, the imperial guards couldn't help, but was shocked.

Unlike the imperial guards, the emperor finds the scene to be amusing.

After securing the rope, Zhang Lin then ties the other end of the rope to his slender waist and starts to climb onto the tree as if it was rock climbing.

The emperor was slightly surprised by the so-called assassin's action, but that doesn't mean that he'll let down his guard.

In the past, there were countless assassins sent by other countries trying to kill the emperor and he has seen all kinds of assassins.

The imperial guards on the other side could only stared dumb found at the scene.

What kind of assassin uses a rope to climb? Shouldn't the assassin be highly in martial arts to stay freely at the enemies base? The imperial guards thought inwardly.

Despite their inner thoughts, they still couldn't let down their guard in fear that the assassin might have already found out about their presence, but was only putting on a pretense to trick them.

Until seeing the assassin finally climb up to the top of the tree branch with much difficulty, the imperial guards didn't know if they should laugh or cry. All they wanted to do at the moment is to take the assassin down as soon as possible to prevent themselves from having an uneasy feeling, but still couldn't make a move unless the emperor gave them the permission to do so, or until the assassin made the first move only then could they take action.

Zhang Lin had no idea that there were people staring at him and just kept on climbing with much difficulty until he reached the top of the tree.

Once he reached the top of the tree, he carefully untied the rope on his waist and untied the other end of the rope that was on the tree branch. After successfully untying the rope from the tree, he then folded the rope nicely and tied it back to his waist to leave no evidence of his so-called rock climbing behind.

Zhang Lin then slowly and carefully got off from the top of the tree that landed him on the roof. He still needs to walk a couple more steps to reach the wall.

Zhang Lin walked slowly toward the wall. Once he reaches the wall which is lower than the roof, he couldn't help, but look down.

Why is it so tall and scary? Will I die if I jump down?

Zhang Lin was pondering whether to jump over, or not. Suddenly, he turned his head over to the direction, where he came from and happened to see the guards standing not far from him with a tall figure standing in front of them.

Because it was dark and quiet far, he couldn't see them very well. However, he knew that the guards had seen him.

Seeing the assassin's action, the emperor could already predict his next action. With that he quickly gives out orders to the imperial guards.

"Go. I want that person alive." The emperor said in a low voice.

"Yes, your majesty."

Seeing the guards rushing over, without much thought Zhang Lin waved at them as if saying catch me if you can and jumped down from the wall.

However, before he could even jump down from the wall to the other side, at a fast speed the leader of the imperial guard had already reached up to him and grabbed him. He then flew from the top of the wall with the guard and landed nicely to the ground where he started.

Zhang Lin was horrified when the guard grabbed him from behind as he thought it was a ghost. He almost pee in his pants due to the shock he received just now from the guard since he thought that there was no way those guards could catch up to him that quickly as there was still quite a distance between them. Beside the wall is tall, there is no way those guards could jump up to catch him that fast, so it must be a ghost.

The guard didn't give Zhang Lin a chance to recover from his shock as he dragged him harshly to the emperor.

With a fast speed, the guard kicked Zhang Lin's back knee to make him kneel in front of the emperor. He then took his sword and pointed it at Zhang Lin's neck.

"Ah!" Zhang Lin couldn't help, but groaned from the kick. Even though the kick was done lightly, however to someone who has no martial art like him, it was too much for him.

The kick along with the sword on his neck brought Zhang Lin back to his senses.

He looked up only to meet with a pair of sharp eyes staring straight at him as if it could penetrate through his soul.
