Kaos found the banishment as an opportunity to leave the kingdom with no strings of worries. Now he could focus all his energy on the only thing he cares about - the sweetest drop of gold from the Heartshine Sunflower. Even though the banishment means he will have to find his own food and his own shelter, the fire in him was not smoldering. Maybe the fire will last only for a few days, but as long as he has it, he is happy, hopeful and heroic. With valor he set himself towards the most spiritual part of Religion - The Tomb.
The Tomb is a day journey with the help of a mayfly. Mayflies jet everyday from the bushes near Volcano to The Tomb to submit their lives to the Goddess of Religion. Catching a mayfly for a wingless is the most difficult task. Kaos had a real challenge as most of the mayflies traveled at midnight and it was already quarter past twelve.
Kaos followed the buzzing of wings and rushed to a dwarf mandarin bush, easy to climb and more likely to catch a mayfly. He ran up the stem only to tumble on an oval bag. He banged his head and shook the entire branch. The oval bag started pulsating with a neon blue glow showcasing a silhouette of a worm inside, a mayfly larva inside its egg. The entire branch started lighting up, illuminating a very narrow path which led to the horizon in the perspectives of Kaos. He followed the lighted trail to the end of the branch. The branch ended in one egg radiating a red glow, it's about to hatch, the timing was all perfect. A vibrant mayfly tore open the bag. Kaos quickly tried to jump on to the back of the mayfly. But the mayfly dodged and Kaos lost grip of the branch and fell right back on the ground with a heavy thud. The mayfly flew away faster than Kaos could say 'OUCH'.
Kaos dusted himself up and noticed his third leg a little twisted. He didn't feel any pain. He felt more optimistic, he picked himself up to climb back the bush but suddenly he noticed a red glow a little further away from him. It's another mayfly egg that is about to hatch. He swiped himself towards the egg. A beautiful baby mayfly tore open the egg and fell outside. The baby mayfly tried to flap its broad wings but she soon realized something's wrong. She started crying. Kaos was puzzled. He quickly ran in circles around her to check why she was crying. He saw one of her wings was twisted just like his third leg. He felt pain. Guilt took over him. He realized he broke her wings. Kaos started begging her not to cry and started apologising. Kaos did everything to cheer her up. Kaos told her - " Am sorry as it's my mistake, punish me for this ". The mayfly replied in tears- " It's all well I feel no pain but I only have one day to live and I have to reach The Tomb before my soul releases ". Kaos couldn't handle the agony he felt inside. He ran in circles around her collecting his thoughts. He then quickly grabbed a small twig and tied that to her wings with a thin vine. She tried to tap her wings, she struggled first but she slowly lifted herself in the air. Tears of sadness suddenly turned into tears of joy.
The mayfly said- " Am thankful for the deed you've done, may I help you somehow? ". Kaos said - " I wish to bear wings, for I wish to go to Heartshine, for I wish to taste the gold, to go to The Tomb to see the goddess to wish for a set of wings, but with your broken wings and the weight of my body, I will only slow you down to your destiny ".
" No mayfly can carry you across the Trumblingroar as the drift and time will both end our lives before we even could, for that I can't take you there ", mayfly said with little hesitation, " but I have one life and I too want to help someone before it ends ". The mayfly quickly jolted and picked Kaos up on her back and jetted towards the North, towards The Tomb. Kaos was surprised - " I am humbled Mayfly, but you didn't have to, am only going to slow you down ". Mayfly replied - " The life I have is short, it's true, and for you have done your mistake, it's true, but you never thought twice to correct your mistake, it's true, and you still gave me hope, it's true, for that I must show gratitude. Also address me as May ".
