The New Crystal Gems have been telling Steven's friends about the Gem's fates all day, and they were exhausted. It had took longer than they had anticipated. They had split up after visiting Sadie, Bismuth and Connie going to see the Cool Kids and her parents, and Lapis and Peri going to see Vidalia and former Mayor Dewy, as the four were close to Steven. Greg had went home due to the trauma. Vidalia was both shocked and devastated. "I had expected them to come back with some wounds, but no, not one like this! Who would model for me now? Amethyst, Steven, why did this have to happen to you!?" She had said, holding Onion in her hands, tears falling. Connie's parents were both worried and relieved. Ms. Maheswaran had exclaimed, clutching her daughter's shoulder, "STEVEN IS DEAD? Oh my gosh, Connie, you're alright, right? My baby, watching her best friend die? Connie, tell me, are you really alright? Connie brushed off her mother's hand and comforted her, insisting that she's okay. Ms and Mr Maheswaran were still a bit unsettled about the whole thing and didn't want her going on adventures with the Gems anymore, but after Connie gave them a big hug, they gave in and let her go. The Cool Kids were astonished and grief-stricken at what had happened, but they only talked for a while because they had other things to attend to. Dewy didn't even get emotional, surprisingly. He simply shrugged and said, "I knew that young Universe would come to an end like this, going on dangerous missions like that." After that, he ushered Lapis and Peri out the door. Afterwards, when the four met back on the beach, Lapis was so agitated she was sitting by the seaside clutching water into small fists thumping on the sand, expressing her anger. "How dare he! Saying stuff like that! Does he even know how much we sacrifice to protect this city? Did he just use Steven to help him regain his mayor's position, and now that he failed, he's not even caring about Steven anymore"" Peri was by her side, comforting her, whispering, "Lapis, there's nothing we can do about it, let's just not bother him in the future, ok?" Lapis threw another fist into the soft sand, and sighed. "Alright, let's just let it be for now." Connie and Bismuth walked over and sat down beside Lapis and Peri. Connie asked, "So, how'd it go with you guys?" Peri answered, "Oh, it went fine, but Vidalia was crying rivers of tears over it. Dewy just ushered us out, he didn't even express any emotion! Lapis is angry about that,  so she's throwing water fists into the sand." Bismuth said, " It went quite fine with us too, although Connie's parents seem to think that our missions are too dangerous. Connie, if you think they are, you can stop coming with us on missions." Connie shook her head and exclaimed, "Of course they are! But with Steven, Garnet, Pearl and Amethyst gone, I don't think that you guys can handle the Diamonds alone! You need all the support you can get, and I'm all in!" The 3 gems were grateful, and they all walked back to the Temple, hearts heavy.
