The right connections, above-average social status, and a lavish lifestyle, some might say those are the things you should measure your happiness with.
The Parkers sadly didn’t have any of that, Mrs. Parker's long-lived wish is to be a part of the upper tiers of society yet foolishly enough she allowed herself to marry a factory worker.
It's not like they were straggling to have food on their table they just didn’t have the luxury to spend money on expensive brand clothes and designer's jewelry, the ones Mrs. Parker wanted more than words can describe.
And so she pushes her sickening need for money on her son, thinking that he could be her ticket to a better life, she invests her all to him to the point of suffocation.
Mark Parker is more than fed up with his mom's behavior and expectations, and yet he couldn't bring himself to put an end to the suffering, he became a lifeless puppet on her strings.
"I can't believe you! What a useless man are you? It's our son, he deserves the best!"
"Our son or not that is impossible for me! Don't talk to me like I'm the one at fault!"
"How dare you!"
Mark could hear his parents fighting again, like every other night the Parker couple fights till the little hours of the night. Mr. Parker hated with passion the fact she uses all of his hard-earned money on the child, while she complains about his low wage and laziness.
As a child, Mark couldn't handle their fighting but luckily at the age of 7, one of his aunts pitted him, thinking the poor boy should at least have a refuge for the never-ending fights at home gifted him a second-hand earphones she had.
Before the poor boy could only listen to the two voices echoing all the way to his small room, holding his tears quietly putting his earphones on full volume to the point his head starts aching, the music isolating him from the loud voices allowing him to relax till he falls asleep, nowadays he doesn't care that much anymore.
At this point, it became a habit of Mark to wear his earphone all day long, in this way he can avoid facing the people around him as well as the harsh hurtful words of his mom.
What he didn't know was that this time the two argued on what might change his all life.
If you like the story please don't forget to give it a like, have a nice day.
And finally, AFTER SO LONG it's back! thank you all so much for waiting.
