Sage dismounted from Akko and run her stirrups up. She walked her new pony out of the arena as her mother left with Melanie. Sage untacked and brushed Akko excitedly.
“You’re coming home with me!” She told the pony.
“Sage, lead Akko over here.” Melanie waved her over.
Sage walked Akko out of the barn to where her mother and Melanie stood. They were by a large horse trailer. Tack, harnesses, and carts were loaded into part of the trailer, with four spaces ready for ponies to be tied. Three small mares stood tied to the outside of the trailer.
Melanie introduced the mares to Sage. “This is Sugar, she’s a dapple-grey miniature horse. The two Shetland ponies are also mares. The silver bay is Spice and the black is Molly. You’re small enough that you can hop on the Shetlands for fun if you want. They’re both broke to ride and drive. Sugar can drive and to in hand work.”
Sage helped Melanie load the four ponies. She followed her mom back to their car. Sage couldn’t wait to get back home.
