As soon as they arrived home, Sage went to the trailer. She unloaded the ponies with Melanie and turned them out together into a small paddock near the barn. Then they unloaded the tack and carts, putting everything in the large tack room. Melanie said goodbye and Sage was alone with her new ponies.
She gave treats and attention to each pony, then watched them explore the paddock. Akko seemed to be the lead mare of the new little herd. Spice was sticking close to Akko and Molly while Sugar followed them, slightly trailing behind.
Suddenly, a sudden noise from the woods caught Sage’s attention. There, in the woods was the pony she had seen! The dark chestnut pony came closer and Sage noticed the pony was a mare.
“It’s okay. You can come over here.” Sage whispered. “You can trust me, I promise.
“Very well.” A melodic voice said in Sage’s head. “I will give you a chance I have not given to anyone in a very long time.”
