Aya
Part Sixteen
Henley has been very quiet today. This morning he got up first and I found him in the kitchen looking at our scan photo and drinking coffee. I knew exactly why, we're going to his father. After our five months scan he'd been hem hawing about when to contact his father. It took him a week to finally call him and now we were on our way. He's still so quiet and I let him have this time to think. Unlike my parents who had started to come round to the idea of being grandparents, his father...well, is very stubborn and by what Henley has told me, He's not always very nice. I might be heavily pregnant and have a belly the size of a big beach ball. I'd still happily sock the guy if he's even remotely nasty towards Henley or me or our unborn child. But I'll give the guy a chance, a little bit of a chance I guess.
"Aya, I won't let him hurt you."
I looked at Henley, his eyes fixated on the road. "I wouldn't let him lay hand on me."
"I don't mean that. He's an asshole, but he'd never hit you. I mean with words. I won't stand for it, so if he starts that shit we'll leave straight away."
"Okay," God. Henley is going to be the perfect dad. Actually, he's already the perfect dad. When our baby makes me crave some kind of weird concoction Henley doesn't hesitate for even a second and is up doing everything he can to give me what I crave. I can't even be angry when he laughs at me. Like when I struggle to get my shoes on or rush, well slower than a geriatric sloth on ketamine. Okay that's a little out there, but it's still hilarious even to me. It was only the other day at the supermarket I almost pissed myself down the snacks aisle when Henley tried and failed to skate down the aisle on the trolley and fell in it, head first too. God, being with him was the best, it will always be the best. "Henley, just remember who's most important. Us, not your father. If he doesn't want anything to do with us then fuck it. We have our own perfect family unit, remember that."
"I know baby. But I want to give him a chance, if he isn't interested...then like you said, fuck it."
"Kaida is really going all crazy….shit that feels weird."
"What...what is it? Are you okay?"
"Yeah, it's weird because I literally see his knee move across my belly."
"Kaida, please don't make momma piss his pants." Henley chuckled.
"If I do you're the one cleaning the seat for putting that idea into his tiny baby head."
Henley laughed again as he flicked the turn signal. I was feeling better now that he was happier and laughing. "Almost there." He was still grinning which was great.
"I was going to ask if your father wouldn't mind me using his toilet, but then again I'd go anyway. Not even a fucking hurricane will stop me using the damn toilet."
"Aya, your moods are one to be admired, like seriously."
"I know. I'm a multitasker….oh, did you take the trash out?" I asked.
"I did."
"Great." I could take it out, but my feet were so swollen the night before. I guess sometimes I loved that I didn't have to do anything and sometimes I hated it. But I loved more that Henley doted on me. Hand and foot. It was hilarious how he’d had cravings, when I did. The only thing that really grabbed my attention was something I couldn’t have. "Hey, I could do with a beer." He’d stocked our house with ice cream and pickles and every kind of cheese you could imagine, but it was beer I craved.
He laughed again. "If you want a beer that badly, which you do because you've not stopped. Then I'll get you a nice cold Guinness on the way back."
"Oh god! Please, please."
"Aya we're here," Henley stopped the car outside of a huge manor house. It looked so big and posh. Dark green ivy crawled the walls of one side of the house and bright pink roses crawled halfway up the other side. It looked warm and real homely on the outside. "Right...let's do this." Henley took a deep lungful of air and exited the car and rushed to my side, like he always does and helped me from the car. "You okay?" He asked, as worry warped his beautiful face.
"I'm fine. Let's go in."
"Okay," I grabbed his hand and we walked through the iron gates together and up the gravel drive. The front door was huge with a big black iron knocker. "You gotta knock that?"
"No silly, there's a doorbell." I huffed as the loud bell sound echoed through the house. Jesus, I'm kind of scared now. Then the door slowly creaked open. I was bending around trying to see who was behind it when a guy in a butler suit came into view. Wow! I thought. A butler. He looked like he was from a movie or something.
"Good afternoon Mr Williams." Ugh, he even sounded so British and posh like those movie butlers.
"Afternoon Henry."
"Oh my goodness he has a name like one…" I held my hand to my mouth as my thoughts popped out from it. "Sorry."
"Don't be, young master, I get it a lot," Oh my god. Young master? And double oh my god, he got what I meant. I almost wanted to squeal in excitement. "Your father is in his study Mr Williams."
"Henry, please call me Henley."
"Ha! Your names are almost the same." Okay so I really wasn't making a very good first impression, but this was just too awesome for me to really care and the fact I had to pee. "I need the loo, please."
"Yes, right this way." Henry was so cute and awesome and we both followed behind him. "....Henley, go see your father and I will escort…."
"Oh, Aya. I'm Aya."
He nodded. "I will escort Aya to the powder room."
"Right. Aya, Henry will bring you to me and my father afterwards, okay?"
"Sure. See you shortly," And I walked away with Henry. "Henry, is Henley's father a nice man?" So I'm extremely nosey too.
"He's a man of high morals." Oof, he looked very proud as he said that..
"I see, like my father."
"I heard about the pregnancy. Congratulations. Although it's hard to not see that you are."
I smiled and rubbed my big belly. "Thank you. It's a boy. We're naming him Kaida."
"That's a wonderful name. Did you know it means little dragon?"
I looked in Henry's direction. He was softly smiling as if he was pulling out some kind of warm memory. "I actually didn't, I just loved the sound of it."
"The powder room," He ushered. "I shall wait for you."
"Thank you," I quickly rushed inside and locked the door. I wasn't surprised. We had powder rooms too. I wasn't sure if Henry or even Henley's father knew I was also from a very prominent household. And honestly, I wasn't going to shout that out either. I had no reason to explain myself or my family to his father. I was here to tell the guy I'm having a family with his son whether he likes it or not. "Ahh, feels so good to pee." Who would have thought peeing felt this damn good.
When I finished I quickly washed my hands and then splashed some of the cool water on my face and left the room. Henry was still standing and waiting for me. "Shall we proceed towards the study?"
"Sure, show the way Henry." I followed behind him and marveled at some of the paintings that hung on the walls. This place looked old, but well looked after. Our city home was modern and the place me and Aida lived in was modern too, but more of a play den I guess. Aida liked entertaining his friends so we had all the things a bachelor pad could possibly have.
"We are here," Henry said and opened the doors. "Master Aya is here." Oh man, I felt like royalty or something.
"You can stop with the whole master thing," I whispered towards Henry. He nodded and left us to it. Henley's father stared at me, eyes wide. "Erm…"
Henley quickly rushed to my side and grabbed my hand. "Are you okay?"
"Do I look like I'm not?"
"Oh, no...I was just checking."
"I'm fine baby."
"Good, come on," Henley didn't let go of my hand as we crossed the room towards his father who was still staring at me. "Father, this is Aya."
"I can see that," I grin because he really isn't any different from my father. "And very heavily pregnant."
"Erm, yeah….here." Henley passed him the scan photo. Then I wondered what in the hell had they talked about while I was busy peeing. Did they even talk at all?
His father stared at the picture. I watched him closely. His eyes squinted. Small thin lines appeared around the edges of his eyes and I swear I saw a faint smile. "Boy? Girl?"
"It's a boy," I said, and sat in a chair opposite him. "We're calling him Kaida and not Veto."
Henley's father chuckled. Wow. "Veto is not very good. I take it, that was my son's idea?"
"Oh yeah, he's terrible when it comes to names." Henley sat quietly next to me. He looked so surprised that I think I'm definitely in for a bigger treat than a beer after this. I'm hoping for chocolate cheese cake, a whole one may I add.
"Thank you." His father was talking quietly.
"It's nothing, we had a few pictures printed out." I said, leaning my hands on the thick oak desk.
"No, I mean for coming here. It's been a long time and I've been very stubborn where Henley was concerned. Now I have a grandchild, so thank you," I thought this would be more difficult, but I was wrong and by the look on Henley's face he thought it too. His father actually looked real happy. "You will let me come see the baby when he's born?"
Henley went to say something, but I just couldn't keep my big mouth shut. "Definitely! You'll have to meet my family too. I think you'll get on with my father."
"I see."
"I have a twin brother too, Aida. But he's an Alpha."
"Twins? Omega and Alpha twins, that's very rare." He regarded me then looked back at the scan picture.
"We were hoping for twins, but there's always a next time."
"Ahh, father. We can't stay long, I just wanted you to meet Aya and give you the picture.'
"I see," Henley was a mess next to me. A confused mess. "I'd like both your phone numbers and address before you leave."
"Okay," Henley grabbed a pen from his father's desk and started writing down our info while I sat there just watching them both. His father is a very handsome man, they have the same eyes. I feel like I've had a glimpse at what Henley will look like when he's older, maybe a bit more handsome, but still handsome regardless. "There, all done." Henley slipped him the piece of paper and his father slipped it between a big black diary along with the scan photo.
"Thank you." He said again.
Not only did his words hold a lot of emotions, his eyes did too. He was actually really really happy, which made me so happy I got out of my chair and rounded the desk towards his father. "Would like to feel him? he's kicking away."
Henley's father looked shocked, then his face warmed and he lifted a hand. He looked at Henley as if silently asking him if it was okay, then he was back looking at my belly. His big hand splayed and pressed to my giant belly. Kaida started going circus crazy and Henley's father smiled. "He is very active." This was a moment to remember. I don't think I'll ever forget it. It was innocent and perfect. It was warm and comfortable. But most of all, it made my man happy that he finally reconnected with his father. I loved it. We were happy and content. Perfect.
