Chapter III-III:
Ambassador
Irises of emerald green met Eilane's own and she paled. The man had tidy hair the colour of bark and well-proportioned features.
They continued to stare at each other for what felt like eternity to the princess. Understanding seemed to dawn on the bright young man first, for he smiled and mouthed a silent thanks, before getting back up.
The princess clasped her hands together. God, I’m sorry I never say my graces and rarely pray, but it’s never too late to start, right? So please, just once, strike this good-looking guy with lightning or something and make sure my father never hears about this! She paled further thinking about the discipline the head maid would spank into her if she were to be caught.
Praying so fervently, it wasn’t until that same man she was hoping God would smite crawled down beside her, that she noticed the conference had ended.
“Hi there, little lady. Don’t worry, I didn’t tell anyone about this.” The gentleman smiled warmly and put his index finger to his lips, “It’ll be our secret.” He then offered his hand to help her get out.
“Thank you…”
“You’re most welcome, my name is Oliver. Are you the daughter of someone who works here?”
Remembering she was wearing commoner clothing, she decided it would be best if she ignored his question. “I should be getting back now.”
The man stared at her for a second, but decided the little girl was simply shy. “Please allow me to escort you out then.”
Thankfully, this guy seems slow.
She gave a nod and his hand entwined hers. His hands were much larger and felt warm against her skin. The two continued like this as they walked through the halls of Pearl Palace.
Thinking that she would be able to escape perfectly at this rate, a young noblewoman across the hall spotted them.
