She didn't know how long she was driving for, nor did she care. All she could think about was how everything fell apart.
Her teeth clenched tightly together, the lights and trees around her blurring together as the clouds took away the glow of the stars and that wretched moon.
She couldn't get rid of the copper taste, couldn't get rid of the smell of rotting burning flesh and ash, and worst of all, her right hand still throbbed.
She had hurt him.
She hurt her Tristan.
"Dammit! Ori you were right…You were right!" She slammed on the brakes, letting the LaFerrari Aperta skid. She jolted as the chassis collided with the stone wall of the tunnel, hearing the crumbling of metal and the screeching noise of cracks forming on the window.
She looked down at the steering wheel, grinding her teeth before she slammed her head down onto it, again and again, her body rocking with heavy sobs. She remembered Tristans' eyes, wide with hurt and shock before they softened, his hand reaching out to her.
Maybe he was a demon she was. Perhaps a part of him was coated with ebony.
At that moment, he was an angel.
And she wanted to rip his wings apart.
All because of that coward.
"' Eva' …that's not even your fucking name!" She pulled back, slamming her fist down on the steering wheel, denting it then bending it under the repeated blows. She slammed her fist against the dashboard, crumbling the carbon fiber materials as she snarled, "Why don't you remember me?! Why did you forget?! How could you!?"
The interior of the multi-million dollar Ferrari was being reduced to scrap as all of her memories spilled forth, as she found herself back into that darkness, reaching out for someone who never came back, "You never came back! Why are you here?! Why are you with him?! You stupid bitch! OF ALL FUCKING PEOPLE, WHY YOU?!"
She slammed her fist down on the gearbox, hearing crackling sounds along with a pop of the engine door opening. She snarled, hitting her head against the busted steering wheel once more, "This fucking car didn't even last a day…"
She lifted her head back up and kicked the passenger side door to open it. She began to climb over to the door before she stopped as her fingers brushed along the soft, silky fabric of a suit jacket. Her fingers trembled, stroking it slowly before she gasped, shaking her head furiously as she exited the wrecked car.
She brought out her purse with her, setting it on top of the car to dig for her phone, trying to calm her frayed nerves and halt the wretched sobs from wracking her body.
She swore she wouldn't cry anymore, and of course, once more, the coward had caused her to fail at that.
She hissed, failing to stop the pain from her shoulder, shuddering as she pulled up her phone. Her thumb was trembling as she dialed the Dante Manor, taking a slow breath as she put the phone to her ear.
"Boss?"
She groaned, hearing that voice. Of all people to be home, "D-Darrion, aren't you working?"
"We have a situation; One of my boys' computer was hacked. I don't know how or why, but-"
"I can't deal with this…" She growled, her shoulder still shaking as she focused on business, "T-tell me that you educated your 'friend' in being less careless?"
"Already did Boss, I didn't like the prick anyways. The issue is that while I was able to cover it here, I came back to check to see if Sybil was able to find anything. I have a sinking feeling that it's our pests again…"
Her eyes closed tightly, her voice trembling, "Fuck! I really don't need this…"
"Boss? …Ira?" The usual calm and direct tone in the phone softened slightly, "Did you have a bad date?"
Her bottom lip trembled, "Th-that's not your…" She shook her head, taking another breath, "I'm fine. Can the operation be moved to another location?"
"This is very short notice boss, but we can give it a shot. However, this will cause another delay and lessen our profits. You know how Ed is with money. We need to have a good reason for our suspicions."
She pressed her tongue against the roof of her mouth, releasing a click as she began to pace, "It doesn't matter, having Seraph destroying the place would do a lot worse, I rather we just move the operation and-…" She stopped, her eyes widening, thinking about Seraph.
Those eyes.
She remembered them clearly.
Those silver moonlit eyes peering from underneath an angelic visage.
That woman, 'Eva,' had those very same eyes.
She released soft coo, a calm washing over her at the gleeful revelation.
So, not only was she a coward…
She was also her enemy.
Her shoulder began to stop throbbing as her lips curled into a grin, "Well, well…I think we have a reason."
"Boss? What are you talking about?"
"Move the product into the new location, like I said, but let's keep the operation going for one more night. If Seraph does show up… I'll be waiting for her."
Her voice was low and steady with an aggressive, confident edge.
She heard him chuckle into the phone, "Is your night looking a little better?"
She looked back towards the car, her eyes on the suit jacket. She bit her lip before shaking her head away from the ruin of the night.
She had something to look forward to.
If the coward was also Seraph, then it would be enough. She would pay her back, tenfold, for her abandonment, "Yes. Quite better. Except…"
"Yeah Boss?"
"I need a ride."
There was silence on the other line before she heard an exasperated sigh, "Boss…Why do you destroy things you like so much?"
She blinked, her smile faltering, "…I don't know."
