Alex -
My hand was already starting to throb where Leo had bitten me. Leo’s terrified eyes met mine, but it looked like they were looking past me. Like there was something right behind my head, and they were looking at that. I looked down at the fire in my palm. Alex, I thought, what. the. HELL are you doing?! I quickly extinguished the fire, but Leo didn’t seem to notice. Lori walks a bit closer to me. “Tell me why you just looked like you were going to burn down our roommate,” she hisses into my ear quietly. My hand flies forward and grabs her shoulder, pushing her away from me. I look at it, “the f-” I start to mutter and then cut myself off. You’re only twelve, Alex. You shouldn’t be saying this stuff. I shake my head and look at the ground. Has this ever happened to you before? I try to think rationally, but as I dive into my memories I realize how few of them I actually have. Before Neverland, all I remember is burning down the house and being sent away by my stepfather. I squeeze my eyes shut and try to think but my memories start to chip away as I watch them. My stepfather… I had a stepfather? The house, the house, the… I open my eyes to see Lori staring at me. Leo is gone. “Do you have any memories?” I ask, terrified. Lori shrugs. I remember Leo talking about his life, but maybe this is normal. Maybe Neverland takes away our memories? I had memories and then I… didn’t. Neverland is getting worse. It was lying when it said paradise. Neverland was quite the opposite.
