A storm rages in the distance
I see it swirling from afar
And slowly closes in
On me.
As large waves begin to form
They threaten to break
My will,
Toss my heart into the waves,
And drown me.
I hold strong and
I stare up
At the nearing vortex,
Shield myself
With hope
And wait for the storm
To pass.
Overhead from beyond
Dark clouds roll in,
Lightning flashes nigh
Then the hurricane
It comes,
Winds and gales howling
Waves and whirlpools swirling
Leaving trails of destruction behind.
Through it I
Barely
Survive.
After the tempest I rise,
Finding myself floating
In the rubble of
The storm
I lift my head
To see
Ahead
The skies are clearing,
Chasing angry clouds away
They float far, far away.
White clouds form
Streaked with
Gold
Peach
Ruby
Yellow
Mirroring the distant horizon.
The waves crash some,
Long gone behind me
My path now clear ahead
Toward the horizon.
Beyond this charted territory
Is the vast unknown.
But having survived one storm,
I welcome what’s yet to come.
