Alex -
My hand aches unbearably, so I look for Leo. They've run to the other side of Neverland. I find them sitting beside a young maple tree. "Leo?" I ask curiously. Their eyes shoot open as they sit up, breathing heavily. "Syrup?" They ask quietly. I cock my head slightly. "You want some pancakes? They're at the food court." Leo shakes his head. "Sorry, I'm just... I'm going crazy, missing my life before, you know?" I shrug. "Not really." They cock their head, "You never missed your mom?" I try to think, but nothing comes up. "My mom?" I ask quietly. "What do you mean?" Leo shrugs, "Nevermind. Let's go get those pancakes." I smile and stand up. "Let's go!"
Leo -
I stare at my pancake. Why was Alex not talking about his mom? I remember him telling me all about his past! So why was he acting like he didn't remember anything? Alex pokes my shoulder, "Earth to Leo!" I look up. "Yeah, yeah, I get it. What do you wanna talk about?" He shrugs. "I don't know. You haven't eaten anything," he remarks, pointing to my pancake. I shrug, "Not hungry. Let's go investigate." He looks up at me worriedly, but I've already tossed my pancake into the trash can and grabbed my backpack. I reach out and grab his arm, pulling Alex out of his chair. "Hurry up," I sigh, pulling him out of the food court. We walk into our room. "Grab anything you'll need," I say with a sigh. Alex appears beside me in a few seconds. "I'm ready." I flash him a weak smile. Lori walks up beside him. "I don't expect to be left behind," she starts quietly, "You'll die without me," she adds fiercely. I shrug, "The more the merrier!" We walk out of the room, wondering what we'll find out. I expected it to be nothing good.
Lori -
I look out at the green world. Something was up. There was something off about Leo, and not just the fact that they are a vampire. In times when I'd normally have sucked out their color, they stayed bright. As if I had given them color instead, even though I would never do that on accident. It's much harder to do and requires much more control. Sighing, I push forward through the vines. Alex and Leo chat behind me. "Idiots," I murmur, then turn around to face them. "Hurry up, c'mon, and help me with this!" Leo walks forward and clears out the vines easily. It seemed too easy, almost as if he was using a - "No," I tell myself and shake my head. "Stop speculating. You're not a conspiracy theorist." I fake a smile keep walking. The vines finally clear to reveal an open clearing. Leo smiles. I'm not sure what Alex is thinking because it appears that he turned of facial expressions, but I guess he's thinking the same as Leo. They're about to run into the clearing, but I stick out my hand. "This is suspicious," I tell them sternly, "Never. Run. In. Always," I pause and look behind me, repeating myself, "Always, always, always check for dangers first." I creep slowly into the meadow, looking around.
"BOO!" Something creeps up behind me so I scream and whip around, pressing my palm into the attacker. Leo doubles over laughing. They are standing beside Alex who has his hands up like he's pretending to be a ghost. I squint at Leo. His color should have been sapped by now, but... "This is the most I've laughed since..." Leo bursts out laughing again, "sorry, a funny memory," he says once he's regained his composure. Alex stops laughing, as do I. Memories... "Yeah, you should've seen your face," Alex says quickly. "I'm lucky you didn't use your powers!" Laughs Leo. I fake a smile, "Yeah, you are," I say, even though I had been using my powers. A growl sounds behind me and I laugh, "You aren't going to get me again!" But when I look up, both Leo and Alex are in front of me, and I still hear the growl from behind. I feel a giant paw on my shoulder. "Lori," Leo stutters, "I think we have company."
