Chapter III-II:
Ambassador
“We must immediately report this to the King!” Carlston was overjoyed, still, he managed to keep a cool head. A sign of his good-upbringing and his calm intelligence. “However, it might be for the best that this is kept secret from everyone else. Being so young and vulnerable would no doubt be cause for the schemers to take advantage of you, Princess.”
“Okay, I got it, uncle Carlston!” Eilane was unexpectedly still quite cute to call him that.
Later, she would discover that her teleportation magic could be used in many different ways. For instance, having her fist be where it wasn’t before caused great force to suddenly displace onto anything connected to it. As in, her punches really hurt. In the future, it would often be mistaken for monstrous strength.
Since the princess was unable to tell anyone of her ability, she always had to constantly hold it back. But as a young girl, having such a cool skill kept secret only grew her desire to realize its potential. So today too, she ran off into an empty room to practice her teleportation magic.
It would be a long time before she would be able to fully control her power, however, she was able to give the illusion of snappy speed to anything she swung.
With no one watching, soft hues waltzed around her as the princess cracked her rapier outwards. Her weapon was as rapid as a kingfisher swooping down and catching unsuspecting fish from shallow waters. Although still rough around the edges, already her form gave off the feeling of a great and dignified personage far into the future.
Letting out a self-satisfied snort, she was about to continue before she heard chattering outside the conference hall. Quickly she dove under the nearest round table, the thick, ultramarine tablecloths that hung off were able to cover her small body.
All at once, swarms of men entered and sat at the very same table Eilane hid under. She did her best to scrunch into herself, avoiding all their legs swinging about. Her heartbeat so thunderously, she was unable to hear any of the muffled talking going on around her. All she could do was concentrate on dodging well-tailored shoes
Why can’t they sit still!?
A modest pen dropped down, clattering along the granite floor. Each clacking sound reverberated in her head. Shakily, she stretched out her hand to try and push it out from under the tablecloth. Finally her fingers made contact, before an arm clad in a well-tailored suit, reached around the ground near her. She froze.
The next instant, the pen appeared beside his hand, his long fingers wrapped around it and began to retreat. Eilane had successfully teleported the pen near him. Exhaling too soon in relief, a head suddenly peered underneath the table.
The princess and the stranger made eye contact.
