Chapter III-I:
Ambassador
From an early age, Eilane already had the preconceived notion that beautiful people only brought annoyances. This was due to a certain encounter at 5 years old.
Commonly, servants chided her whenever she stepped foot outside of Diamond Palace, the area where she resided. At first, she felt guilty whenever she disobeyed rules and was caught. However, around the seventh time she was nagged at, her thoughts on the matter transformed into something along the lines of: Are they the masters or am I?
This was the start of her precocious personality being developed.
Lately, her servants kept trying to persuade her to meet young boys outside of the palace. Although Eilane didn’t fully understand their intentions, their adult faces and laced words seemed suspicious. Her intuition was surprisingly really good even as a kid. So, she rejected them all.
The princess [unknowingly] procrastinated the idea of marriage those days as well.
While dutifully escaping one fine morning, she decided to explore Pearl Palace - the building where state guests and diplomats temporarily resided.
To further prevent getting caught, she borrowed [stole] clothing from a servant’s daughter.
With the same abandon as any other 5 year old rascal, she ran into a conference hall gilded with tinkling chandeliers and stained glass windows. Colours danced all along the floor from the sunlight hitting the mosaics.
How spacious and pretty, she stared around in amazement. This was the perfect place for her to play in.
Though it wasn’t just the idea of fun and freedom and not wanting to meet gross boys which caused her to run away every chance she got… It was mainly because something inexplicable happened during one of her recent fencing classes.
Sick of constantly being beaten in swordplay, especially by Carlston, the princess grew restless. One second she was overwhelmed by a flurry of ripostes, the next, her rapier swung with such speed and force that her opponent’s own weapon flew out of their hand.
The two froze. Carlston in his battle-ready stance, yet unmoving and weaponless, gave a look that communicated: “What in God’s name just happened!?”
The princess suddenly had the realization that he looked extremely laughable like that and burst out in amusement.
A few seconds passed before the middle-aged official broke out of his stupor.
Eilane was just about to make excuses for acting so rudely, before the man suddenly lifted her up in his arms and spun her around. “By the Gods, the first and only princess has been blessed with magic!”
Specifically teleportation magic.
